2015 MMVAs: MUCHFact Award
The Much Music Video Awards (MMVAs) kicked off Sunday evening in Toronto, Canada with musical guests like Drake and Ed Sheeran. One of the awards that was presented was the MuchFact award. While it’s not as well-known as Video of the Year, the MuchFact award is given to a Canadian artist and it is founded upon A Foundation To Assist Canadian Talent, which commits a percentage of its gross annual revenue to help budding Canadian artists with music video production costs.
This year’s MuchFact video winner was “Forever” by Majid Jordan, a Canadian performing duo composed of two young men: Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman. They’re signed to the record label, OVO Sound, which was co-founded by Drake.
With growing awareness of the importance of supporting artists (see Taylor Swift’s letter to Apple), it’s great to see a popular network like MuchMusic supporting young musicians.
