JEFF BUCKLEY MuchMusic Interview (1994)
beastie boys on muchmusic with vj steve anthony (1992)
Hey Gina! I wanted to ask your opinion on something. Some things that people seem to take as "proof" that Harry and Louis have been together since the starting of the band feel a bit weird to me, they rather discourage me. For example, when people say Liam or Niall straight out outed them and they see it as something good and as a proof that they were together and that their bandmates encouraged them to come out (like the first two clips from here https://youtu.be/h0xXaIP4PFM?si=afll2B0UnSod0Jbz), I'm like "well that's crazy why would they out them if they all knew it was a secret and Harry and Louis would be the ones who will pay the price". Liam, in the beginning at least, seemed to me that he would've wanted them to remain closeted because he was afraid that if Larry became public the band would suffer a lot. So why would he say things like these unless they were all jokes?
Another thing that I'm not sure how I should feel about is this: https://www.tumblr.com/haz-loves-tommo/185550666151?source=share
Why would Louis say that in a MAGAZINE where he knows that his every word will be written down. It sounds like a joke, not like a declaration of love as some people understand it. And even if it was meant to be taken as a joke by the general public and he hoped that only the fans would understand that he really fell in love with H, why would he be so open about it? If they could say things like these why weren't they allowed to come out?
All I want to say is that obvious things like these, that they literally spill out, that everyone says is the best proof we have, have the opposite effect on me. I became more invested in Larry and started really believing in it when I read about the bears or the tattoos or when I really started listening to their lyrics and realised that they tell the same story. Why would I take as ultimate proof something that felt, at best, like an inside joke? (English is not my first language, sorry if what I wrote doesn't make sense).
Hi, sweetheart. I think it’s important to place those bits of “evidence” within the context of when they happened. The truly harsh closeting hasn’t started yet for Harry and Louis, and there was a light more lightness and joking around about their “bromance.” Liam continued to do stuff like that for years. But I think by the point where those two interview clips are from (May 2012), Liam had loosened up a bit All the boys joked around that way, as if making light of such a “silly” question.
I think it was an attempt to do as Simon asked, without really doing it, if you know what I mean.
As for the magazine, again, they were particularly feral in the early days, and before it was decided to try she’d break into America, they got away with a lot. That quote reads as a joke to anyone who wasn’t picking up on their signaling.
I don’t say any of this to “prove” anything, just a way of perhaps shifting your perspective on how all of that landed at the time. “Larry Stylinson” was still a lighthearted thing then.
Things changed very drastically not long after, as Eleanor was introduced and H*ylor started.
But, listen, you don’t have to believe every interpretation of things. It’s not “required” that you believe they’ve been together from the get-go.
If you want to dig into what things were like in 2011 and 2012, I’d take a look at @bulletprooflarry’s blog. Kati was meticulous with her timelines and 2012 was really her specific obsession. So much was happening on every level. She’s not active anymore, but her blog is a treasure trove.
I hope that helps a bit. ❤️

VHS Archives #152: Grumpy KISS Host the Power 20 on MuchMusic (1993)
A bitchy Paul Stanley and a disinterested Gene Simmons walked in to host the Power 30 on MuchMusic, with only Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick to save them. On the road to promote the new home video KISS Konfidential, Paul starts off by complaining that Kiss never got played on MuchMusic. (Untrue; all their current videos received ample play, with the exception of the ballad “Every Time I Look At…
