Kaleidoscope, Chapter 8: Tuesday, 9 p.m.

The moment Alina texts her Can I come over?, Genya knows that something is wrong, mostly because it’s past nine on a Tuesday, and the last time she wanted to come over on a short notice past nine on a weeknight was during the Dark Ages—a.k.a. when she was dating Oretsev.

I just wonder how modern JCC reacts to AMC bringing TGC home.

Well, of course, he’s going to be really thrown off-kilter no matter who she brings home, because they have an obnoxiously co-dependent relationship and she’s still his little girl, but he’s mostly annoyed that there’s nothing exceptionally unlikeable about TGC.  Except for the fact that he has at least two inches on him and he’s an unapologetic dirty-commie-liberal.  But he’s well spoken, polite, deferential, smart, connected, has a real job, etc, so there’s no reason why he CAN hate him.

Once they actually settle into a relationship though, they end up being really close.  there’s the old idiom that every girl marries her father and honestly the resemblance between JCC and TGC is a little scary sometimes. JCC goes on the occasional hike with him and the kids come on vacation back to SC with him a lot.

HC loves him, though.  They have the same taste in puns and whiskey.
