He liked Credence, loved him even, but everyone had limits. No one was perfect, they all had flaws, Ray had his own admittedly but it wasn’t like what Credence had. Maybe part of him was still in denial about it.
“Because I still don’t want to believe it! I don’t understand it, any of it!” he returned defensively. To be totally honest it scared him, you weren’t supposed to be scared of your partner.
