“There’s someone I need to talk to before it is too late.” Mulan
“A loved one?”
“We shall see.”
*camera cuts to Aurora*
blah blah
“Is Philip here?” Mulan
“No, shall I get him?” Aurora
“No, that’s unnecessary. It’s you I wanted to talk to.” Mulan
Prompt: A story about what would have happened if Mulan was able to talk to Aurora about how she felt. Please?!?! :) thanks!
She took a deep breath as she approached her friend. The advice Robin had given her had restored the faith she once held in the notion of True Love which she long since had given up. Things weren’t the same after Shang had died in battle, and she didn’t know what to do with herself for the longest time. Surely losing her love meant that she would never have another chance again, right?
But then Aurora had come across Mulan’s path, and she felt everything change. It wasn’t the notion of having feelings for a woman which bothered her; she had long known that she held attraction to the same gender. It was who she held feelings for which bothered her. When she first saw the Princess, she had felt her heart stop; she was just as beautiful as Phillip had described and more. But she was slightly spoiled and was often shocked to believe that a women could be equal to men in physical strength.
However Aurora had grown as a person during their journey with Snow and Emma, becoming the lovely person who she was today. She had wanted to laugh when Aurora asked her if she had feelings for Phillip. Sure the Prince was plenty handsome, but she felt nothing for the man more than friendship. It had been her that Mulan had fallen for. But Aurora was with Phillip, and so she had given up.
She wasn’t quite sure what she would expect. It wasn’t as if the Princess would confess her undying love as well. But she knew she had to get it out there. At least once to say the words before it was too late once more.
Aurora was glowing as Mulan approached her. She didn’t think the princess could look any more beautiful than she already did, but somehow Aurora managed it. Her fingers were running through pink flowers as she turned to face the warrior.
“Mulan?” she asked in surprise as her face broke out into a contagious smile before approaching her. “How long have you been there? What are you doing?”
“Gathering my courage,” Mulan admitted nervously. She swallowed; she had fought many battles, but none seemed as difficult as the challenge in front of her.
“What’s going on? I’m so glad you’re back,” she said as she clasped their hands together.
“Is Phillip here?” she couldn’t help but ask her.
“No, no shall I get him?” Aurora asked, turning to go.
“No,” she said a bit strongly. “It’s not necessary. It’s you I want to talk to,” Mulan said. “You see-” she started as Aurora smiled again. “Why are you smiling at me?”
“I can tell you’re bursting with news, but so am I,” Aurora said happily, “So tell me what you came to say, and I’ll share mine with you.”
She took a deep breath, “Aurora, do you remember when I was trying to keep you safe all those months ago and you accused me of having feelings for Phillip?”
Aurora frowned, “Yes? I told you I knew how one in love looked.”
“You were right about me being in love,” Mulan said softly, “But it wasn’t with Phillip. Aurora, I love you.”
“I love you too,” Aurora said, sounding confused. “You’re one of my best friends.”
“No, Aurora, I love you,” Mulan said, pushing the meaning onto that one word.
Her eyes widened, “But, I don’t understand. I could have sworn you had feelings for him, not me.”
“I just needed to tell you,” Mulan said, taking a step back. She felt fear creep through her, afraid that she was about to lose the friendship she had.
“Mulan, Phillip and I are expecting a baby,” Aurora said as she came closer to her. “I’m so, so sorry. I love you, but I don’t love you like that.”
“It’s fine,” Mulan said, struggling to keep her composure since it definitely was not fine. “I just needed to tell you because I’m joining Robin’s crew of Merry Men. I thought I should say something before I left.”
“You’re leaving?” She asked with a frown. “Will I see you again?”
“Maybe in time,” Mulan said. “But it will have to be whenever fate intends our paths to cross once more.”
Aurora pulled her into a hug, “Good bye, Mulan. I wish you luck and happiness.”
Mulan pulled away with a struggling smile as she said, “I will see you again one day.” She turned and began to walk away as her masked dropped. Tears began to flow down her face as she had released the pain she had been holding back.
At least Aurora would be happy.
A/N: I have to admit I struggled slightly with this prompt. It took me a while to be able to write it because I don’t ship sleeping warrior as much more than a brotp. But I wanted to give it a shot so I hope I did it justice. I do have to say that I was heartbroken when Mulan was about to confess her feelings and couldn’t because of Aurora’s news. So this is what might have happened if Mulan went first
