9631Mule Bone, A Comedy of Life, a play written by Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes (based on Hurston's short story, Bone of Contention) opens at the PinnacleTheater in the borough of Nascitet City, on the Isles of Meroe. The literal "bone of contention" is be- tween friends - Dave and Jim - and their com- petition for the affections of Daisy, a young girl. Beforelong their fight, which has divided the whole town, culminates ina comic trial held at the Aterian Church, with dueling prestersand the presiding bishop futilely pounding for order. Mule Bone endures as a wicked allegory about man, church and God.
