Gold Medal Day in Jasper National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pullout along the Maligne Lake Road in Jasper National Park. Here I captured a set of images of this mother black bear and her cubs as they ate various grasses and wildflowers in this field. As I pressed the shutter, she seemingly just happen to be looking in my direction.

A Daily Dose of Bears at Katmai (Katmai National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I captured this image at the Falls Platform with a view looking to the northeast at Brooks Falls while observing brown bears in Katmai National Park. The image is of several male brown bears in the river and falls area attempting to catch salmon to eat. I pulled back a lot on the focal length to capture much more of the falls and surrounding area. My thinking was to include all the bears present and capture the feeling of this wildlife and national park setting.

Seeing the Sights of Jasper National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pullout along Maligne Lake Road with a view looking to the southwest to a mother black bear and her cubs eating away. This is in Jasper National Park. My thought on composing this image was to keep one finger on the AF-On button, while pressing the shutter when the bears happen to look my way as they were enjoying the wildflowers and other grass as they were eating.

It was the first time I had a chance to get up close on this observation platform since a trip several years back...I was quite happy to be back again!
