I understand you might get this a lot, but do you have maybe some advice or tips you could give for cosplaying a man? More specifically the character Dean Winchester? I've seen you're cosplays and I just simply adore them and I was thinking I could ask you since you've done it.
Sorry for getting to this so late! Yeah, I could definitely give some advice. Maybe one of these days I could put together a little video to better show what I do.
I guess for now I could give a sort of step-by-step process.. Which I hope makes sense/helps.
Obviously, start with your base foundation. Smooth out your shit. Sometimes I’m bad and don’t bother with this, but I have relatively even skin and people with photoshop skills.
Next I use a cheap brown eyeshadow and shade it along each side of my nose, go up around the curve of my inner and and right under my eyebrows. Gives my eyes a deeper set look and the brow bone more… manly and prominent.
Thicken/darken brows as necessary with appropriate color shadow. I don’t use any for Dean as I think my brows match my wig fairly well.
Using the same brown shadow (may be a different color depending on your character’s stubblies) and a rounded stipple sponge, I blot it in the appropriate area. This involved looking at several VERY up close pictures of Jensen’s face to study his stubble pattern considering it differs from man to man. I realize staring at gorgeous men for extended periods of time can be hard, but it’s a necessary step. Through intense staring, you’ll find for Dean, his stubble is much more controlled than saaaay.. Cas, for example. AND DON’T FORGET to bring the stubblies a bit down the neck, as hair does grow down that way.
Finally, I use Ben Nye cream eyeshadow in a lighter brown and a square stipple sponge to do his freckles.
The brown shadow can also be used to do various contouring and junk. Shading in a bow above the lip or giving yourself a light (maybe deep, I don’t know you’re life) butt chin crevice. Just be sure to shade/blend. I just use my fingers to blend.
And that’s about all I can think of, really.. Aside from binding and throwing some lifts in your shoes to make yourself taller. But I’ll definitely look into making a short video where I get into Dean for you!
