Ben didn't look up from the flintlock he was carefully polishing. Wiping a rag over the barrel with several firm, even circles, he kept his mouth in a grim line while he allowed Thomas' concerns to wash over him.
Sometimes, I'm scared too, he thought. But would he ever admit as such aloud? Could he admit it? No... Not if he wanted to keep his wits about him.
Instead, Ben finally set aside the flintlock and folded his hands in his lap, training his gaze upon the fire rather than the young man at his side. "In this life, uncertainty is the only thing we can be sure of," he softly said. "There's no shame in being afraid of the unknown -- only a fool wouldn't be scared." Here, he offered Thomas a fragile smile. "I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I do know who holds tomorrow. And so long as we pray and keep our heads on straight, we can at the very least know in our hearts that we're doing the best we can. In the end, that's all we can do."

Eddie can't help it hearing the words come from her he lets out a snort. He doesn't think he could have thought of something so cheesy if he tried. He likes it though it's charming it's... very her. "You know that was cheesy even for me. It got me to laugh so good for you Chrissy Cunningham- harder to do than you'd think." He jokes as they both know getting him to laugh was a bit of an easier task than most.
