Reblog if you want to read themumblybee's shapeshifter story.
I am so thankful and fortunate that I know themumblybee and that she lets me talk to her on the phone forevs. I love our conversations because she is brilliant and fascinating, but most importantly because it is such a privilege to call such a deeply good person my friend <3
Tonight, I told themumblybee, "…and I think the last book's just going to be an undersea lesbian road trip," and all she said was, "That's beautiful." May I never do anything to screw this friendship up. <3
I'm so lucky that themumblybee is my friend <3 <3
Title: Chance of Survival Author: mumblybee Summary: Red vs Blue. In which Delta learns York's favorite color, and York learns that there's no such thing as a stupid question. Rating: T Words: 1,452
"both wearing the exact same outfit on the metro au" for Yorkalina.
"No way. No fucking way!" York said, his disbelieving smile clear from across the subway car. "Dude. Duuuuuude. We're wearing the same outfit!" He staggered out of his seat, grabbing on to the overhead rail on his second try, and came to rest in the empty seat across the only person on the train pointedly ignoring him. She stage-whisper sighed as he sat down, his face eagerly grinning and nodding, and she kept her mouth from twitching into a smirk with extreme effort.
"One of us is a lot more drunk in this dress," Carolina said, the undertone of teasing only obvious to people who know her really well. Or, apparently, a completely drunk stranger in the exact same cyan sundress.
"I'm not gonna hold that against you, though. I'm nice like that." He paused, straightening up and looking at the light above her head in deep efforts of contemplation. "Wait. Hold it against...I had something for this. It was something good, too."
"I'm on the edge of my seat," Carolina said dryly, looking at the man. He was certainly attractive, despite the drunkenness. Had the kind of build that made her think he would make a good sparring partner. Probably military. Probably lost a bet.
"Hold on, it will come to me," York said, and Carolina begins to suspect this guy is not super-drunk-insightful, but just super don't-give-a-shit-how-you-mean-it. "Come to me...that was something too. Augh. One thing at a time, York, one thing, you got that one-"
"Was it something like, 'if I say you wear that dress better, would you hold it against me'?" Carolina offered, and York's face beamed with the satisfaction of pre-meditated self pick up lines, and she actually smiled.
"Why, yes, yes I would. This is my stop. Wanna come, beautiful blue-dress red-haired lady?"
"Carolina," she said, and she was already getting up.
"What, like the state?" He jumped out of his seat a lot more coordinated than she expected, and she had to give him some credit to his meticulous planning.
"Like both states," she corrected and he grinned, grinned in a way that made up her mind, "come on, then. Lead the way."
