ok first I love the concept of choosing a favourite WIP because they are all my horrible little children and I love them all equally; second, everyone who sent me a request for this meme has sent me one for my favourite WIP, so now I have to either commit to one of them being my favourite, and talk about it thrice (funny!), OR i have to say that "favourite is a tier" (less funny :()

but i don't have to make that decision until i do a second reply so for now i will tell you about a document called "Something dead that doesn't know it's dead" :} <- grinch smile leads to source quote

THE FACTS: it's a hikaru no go fic, it's a pride and prejudice modernish AU, it's my special little baby. I started brainstorming this one over twitter? I think? with @feelsfictional and @psidn, because they understand my passions.

THE BACKSTORY: Hikaru found Sai, just like in canon, but the first time he let Sai play was actually against his granddad, not against Touya, and his granddad's reaction made Hikaru scared/wary. (His granddad was just shocked at his delinquent grandson's bizarre aptitude for a game he'd never played before in his life, and his health was already kinda iffy, so Hikaru was worried he'd give him a heart attack or something.) Hikaru never got pulled into the world of the pros, maintained secrecy with Sai, and only ever played online.

THE PRESENT: Hikaru is a junior high history teacher who runs a chronically underfunded go club with a chip on his shoulder about snooty pros and wealthy go clubs from fancy schools! Touya is a young pro who has only ever socialized with people twice his age and doesn't want to waste his time on cowards who only play on the internet!

THE EXPERIENCE: it's really fun to write but i've been feeling low on writing juice lately, so I'm not making progress as fast as I wish I were. Still, last time I sat down to work on it, I got a lot done! Maybe that can continue??

Defrag 2 and 13, I know you don't always listen to music or anything when writing but also know you've got some songs that you like for it!! gimme!!!

2 - The beginning! I write in order because I’m a square and cannot jump in and out of the story alas.

13 - Hmmm. Well. There’s a lot of songs on the playlist that I sort of listen to sometimes to write (many of them homestuck tracks ofc. I spent a lot of time with unite synchronization and moonsetter) buuuut. Of non homestuck...well...there’s the playlist ‘yena made me x3 I used to write to that. And then one I mentioned to you a long time ago called “Someone I used to know.” 

There’s also one called “Fragments” that someone in my discord server posted once and I listened to that one for a while!
