Posted @withregram • @consciousmothersgroup Shaming children makes them feel bad about themselves and who they are. Children lack impulse control so when we belittle, punish, make them feel guilty, or believe they are bad or stupid we aren't condemning their behaviour but rather them as a person. They don't know the difference. This can be detrimental. It can lead to teenagers and adults who expect too much of themselves and experience anxiety, depression, rebellion and/or repressed feelings. Instead of shaming parents can see the situation as a time to connect. A time to discuss what just happened. Find out why it happened. What was the unmet need? How can you meet it? Setting loving limits and discussing situations respectfully can be helpful when children are learning to manage impulse control and are figuring out what behaviours are acceptable. This helps children grown into secure teenagers and adults. . . . . #perthmums #consciousmums #mumsofperth #perthmama #consciousparenting #gentleparenting #respectfulparenting #peacefulparenting #positiveparenting #motherhood #parenting #parenthood #mumlife #attachmentparenting #consciousmama #consciousmother #consciousmothersgroup https://www.instagram.com/p/CPfIOa6nRza/?utm_medium=tumblr
