truth be told, gohan found it difficult to be at ease when it was just the two of them because the onus of making sure that his daughter has a good time and was well taken care of would be squarely on him, and he couldn't look to videl at any moment of uncertainty. however, these times were necessary; it was imperative that he develop parental skills and learn and grow as a father without needing constant guidance. aware of this, he'd feign confidence for his daughter's sake, be the leader and example he was meant to be, seem certain and strong, and hopefully, one day, it'll all come naturally. what will most likely thwart his endeavors, though, was his tendency to overthink, overanalyze and get caught up in his mind which only ever benefitted him when he was sitting behind a desk and never anywhere else, most likely because it was never needed anywhere else.

still, even if it was an inhibitor in cases like these, it just meant that he cared. he wanted to do right by his flesh and blood, give her the absolute best childhood a kid could have, ensure she always felt loved, wanted and cherished to the utmost. it took some time, but eventually he did realize that their time together did not require meticulous planning, just him following her whims and instincts and curiosity (provided that they wouldn't get her into any trouble, needless to say) and letting her explore what this beautiful planet has to offer, all the while answering any questions she may have and keeping her safe.

they ended up having quite the eventful, spontaneous day, and pan used up all of her ki by flying at high speeds, and he exhausted himself by chasing after her but fortunately he wasn't completely depleted thus he was able to wrap her in his arms and carry her home. though, she told him to stop so they could behold the awe-inspiring spectacle that was the sun setting on the horizon, emitting a vibrant orange glow, and they became immersed in a calm and peaceful state of presence as they enjoyed it.

he took a moment to look at the girl in his arms, his beautiful girl, and how captivated she was, having wide eyes and a smile on her face. his smile grew even bigger because of hers. as delightful as nature could be in itself, the best part of it to him was witnessing the reactions of his little one because not only was she adorable, but seeing that she was happy strengthened his belief in himself as a father, assured him that he was being the one that she deserved by exposing her to the wonders of the world.

A toughed heart was easily melted in the warm, loving embrace of her children and her husband. The ox princess couldn’t help but adore this wonderful present that she received by her youngest son. She appreciated the effort and thought into this drawing, already preparing to display it on their fridge for everyone else to see. Surely Goku would compliment it the moment he arrived back from his training or whatever errand she requested him to do. Arms suddenly picked up her precious boy, making sure to hold the drawing with one hand as she does. It was a rare treat … something Chi Chi didn’t expect to receive after their constant back and forths with what to do about Goten’s future. “ It looks wonderful, Goten! Mommy definitely loves it and I’m sure your father will say the same thing when he sees it. Oh, I love you so much. ” Lips gave a gentle kiss to her son’s cheeks, helping to guide him towards the fridge to place the drawing so everyone can gaze at it. Thoughts already made her wonder if they could consider Goten’s studies to be in order in exchange for letting him train with his father. As much as the dangers did traumatize her with thoughts of being told of their deaths, she had to gather courage to fight back that protective instinct.

“ For the sake of my boys … it’s for the sake of my boys, even though I don’t want to lose any of you. ” The tears fell from Chi Chi’s cheeks at the sheer thought of being separated from Goten at an early age like Gohan was. She tried to hold back such a thought, but realized that’s the happy family they had to provide for them all. The ox princess had to reach back to her roots of being strong … just like her own father, the Ox King. “ Oh, I’m sorry Goten. I was just trying to remember my promise to your father about the training he wants you to go through. You reminded me that we’ll always be a happy family, no matter what. ” She let her boy down and helped to adjust his clothing properly with a smile. “ Just know your mom will always be here whenever you need me, Goten. ”
