As predicted, I am disappointed in the Cats trailer, and therefore have even lower hopes for the actual movie. I’m sure in and of itself it will be great, but nothing compared to the one I grew up loving and watching. So many things in just the two minute trailer are wrong and don’t go along with the storyline, so I’m definitely already a little sad. Definitely annoyed that Mccavity literally looks nothing like how he’s supposed to at ALL. I’m sure Idris Elba will be amazing, but I’m very displeased that they didn’t get his look right. And Magical Mister Mistoffelees doesn’t look magical enough, and he’s the character I was SO excited to see. I do think they got Victoria, Rum Tum Tugger, and Munkustrap’s looks pretty on point. While the trailer does leave me feeling disappointed and slightly annoyed, I am still excited to see what this will be, and what these actors will bring to the roles. I’m sure it’ll be an amazing movie, I just wish it would be more like the original cats. I guess I’ll just have to separate the two in my head.
