I hope in a good way!

In a great way! I didn't know that about arsenic and laudanum, and now I'm even more eager for them to revisit his death and fill in some of the blanks for us. Everything on this show is so well thought out.

Ah! Good! Yeah, it’s pretty fascinating. I said it in my tags, but the laudanum just pinged for me because I wrote an essay on hysteria treatments back in university (one of my electives for my history major was the treatment of women’s maladies throughout history - it was an interesting course!)

The explicit double mention of it in the one scene felt really pointed to me too, so I’m very curious to see where they go with it.

Arsenic as a chemical was first isolated by the famous alchemist, Albertus Magnus, which in itself feels like a nod to Lestat's first death at the hands of another alchemist named Magnus

Yup! It's got a pretty fascinating history as an element, and one longer than Albertus Magnus, but he's who's accredited to discovering it as an isolated element in around 1250. You can read a bit about it here if you're interested.

I love it as a beat though. Killing Lestat by feeding him blood poisoned by a chemical discovered by a man with the same name and profession as his maker, a man who killed Lestat by replacing his mortal blood with his own, just feels so wildly poetic.

Obviously Claudia doesn't know Magnus was an alchemist, but given how well-read / how much of a history buff she is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was partially deliberate still anyway? After all, she doesn't seem to believe Lestat's story about his turning, and I could see her in her spite finding some power in thinking if it was a lie, she's made it true by using arsenic to kill him.
