Characters: Jonah and Kyle

A/N: Guess what is back! Murder Monday [Insert Hellmo Here]! We took a short hiatus but we are back to share some more angst with you! Check out my partner in crime’s page for the first Murder Monday of the year! Here’s to number two!
Stumbling over his own boots, he staggered into the infirmary in search of his tools to stitch up the stab wound that refused to stop seeping blood. The motive of the assault incredibly unclear to the resident doctor of the army. He had been passed out on his couch within his chambers only to be brutally awakened with a knife embedded in his stomach.
What had come over his superior?
Kyle kicked the door closed with his foot, falling forward as his knees nearly gave out. His bloody hand nearly slipped on the tiled surface. The room tilted though his gaze remained upward at the shelf full of supplies. It wouldn’t be long before the weight would set in and standing impossible.
Glass shattered against the floor, bottles of unneeded supplies swiped away haphazardly. It could be restocked. The drumming in his ears of his own rapid heartbeat and haze falling over his mind covered the footsteps of his assailant.
“No, no, no.” The voice shushed with a heavy breath. Slender fingers curled into the material of his shirt, tugging him backwards. “You can’t do that. It’ll ruin your journey.”
I’m helping you complete your journey.
Those words floated through Kyle’s mind, remembering what he’d heard in his sleep before the attack. His body hunched forward, growing heavier with each moment that passed. “What journey? Jonah, what the hell is wrong with you?”
Jonah towed him away from the shelves, releasing his grip to allow the doctor to collapse onto the cold tiles. It wouldn’t be much longer until his blood loss became irreversible. Amber eyes were void of everything except anguish. “We want the same thing.”
“I don’t...” The world around him began to fade, becoming distant like a dream. The feeling in his body waning away as the tide pulling back into the ocean, starting from the tips of his fingers and toes. “...understand...”
Placing his boot on Kyle’s chest to keep him against the floor, mint hair swished as his head fell to the side, nearly inhumanly far. Moonlight through the window illuminated the Queen as if a reaper come to take his soul. His amber eyes the only color Kyle could see, drowning in his gaze. “I’m helping you, Kyle. You can be with him now.”
The pain etched in those words cut throw the muffle covering his ears.
“Luka refuses me, still, but you, I can reunite you with your brother. You can be together again.” A bittersweet smile spread across Jonah’s lips. Oh how he wished it could be the same for him. “It’s only the proper thing to do.”
“Brothers should be together.”
Edgar x Zero “Blame”

Another Murder Monday finished! Technically it’s still Monday somewhere on the west coast so I’m not really late. @plumpblueberry Here it is. Your order is up. The poor red army boys and their tragedy.
"Are you crying?" Edgar mused, the same sickly-sweet tone he always held when speaking with the Ace.
With his eyes closed, Zero could picture him exactly as he remembered. That tone always laced with mixed meanings and intentional teasing. Spoken by the man who's smile never faltered for anyone, least of all him. A smile that only touched the surface, believable to those who did not know the demon side of Edgar.
The side that Zero had chosen to ignore until this very night.
He’d desperately clung to memories of his time spent learning sword play. Days where his superior would coach him in that same tone, teasing him to fuel the flames of desire to grow stronger and stronger. The future Jack of Hearts that had cured his boredom during their school days at Zero’s expense.
Smooth gloved fingers swiped gently across Zero’s cheek, soaking up the tears that had rolled down and dripped onto the white uniform of the Jack. The gesture bidding him to look at the final moments. “Now, that’s not how you should be when defeating the enemy.”
Enemy.
When had they become enemies?
Fellow officers of the same army meant to uphold the same laws and fight side by side to defeat those who would oppose peace within their country.
Zero clutched the hilt of his sword tighter, still snugly placed completely through the Jack of Hearts chest. It had only narrowly missed his heart, an error made by the Ace. Last minute hesitation, the sinking feeling of making the incorrect choice.
And what suffering it would bring, only postponing death with agonizing pain. Yet, Edgar never lost his smile, the most genuine one that Zero had ever seen. As if a silent thank you for bringing this fight to the proper close.
The assault on the Magic Tower had brought the two together, fighting on opposite sides. Master and protege facing each other one last time, the duel to prove the Ace’s place among the army. Defeating the one who had betrayed them, joined forces with the Tower at the bidding of his uncle.
“You’re a good boy, Zero. I couldn’t be any prouder of you, as your master and superior officer.” Edgar patted his arm with little strength behind the motion, the life draining out of him with every bit of blood that seeped out from the wound. “It’s time to put the past behind you and move forward as the rightful Ace of Hearts. My sins are my own to bear.” His green eyes dulled and slid closed moments later.
A confession. The Jack of Hearts taking the blame solely on himself.
But...
Who was at fault?
Zero couldn’t find an answer that didn’t clench his heart so hard in his chest that it might stop beating all together.
It had been Edgar’s choice to go along with his uncle. His choice to betray not only those around him who respected and served beside him, but the people of the city that he dearly loved.
The smile still touching his lips, holding contentment for the way this fight had ended....
Maybe, those days where the smile slipped, just for a moment... it was his cry for help. A silent plea to anyone who would dare push past his seemingly impassible walls. Just a boy drowning in his family’s sins, screaming in the darkened void for a single taste of the light, for a savior to come to his rescue.
A cry that Zero himself had ignored, too distracted by the outward personality that charmed those around to hide that trembling little boy that lurked deep within.
So, who’s fault could it really be?
Not as much as of punch to the gut angsty.
Blanc x MC “Don’t Go”

Tagging @plumpblueberry for Murder Monday. What a way to kick off our new thing than a drabble of Blanc!
Warning: Character Death (it is murder monday)
Rain drops fell, splattering against the warm cobblestones of the path leading up the quaint cottage on the edge of Central Quarter. Each patter jarring her heart as her trembling hands applied pressure to the wound. Warm blood soaked her hands, slipping between her fingers. “Blanc? Please wake up!” Her voice drowned out by the booming thunder radiating through the skies.
No one heard her cries for help. Desperately, she wanted to find someone, anyone, who could assist her. Yet, she stayed on her aching knees.
Stay with me, my dear. That’s all I ask.
How could refuse the words of the man in Cradle that had captured her heart?
“No, no, no,” she muttered in disbelief, gaze fixed on the pale eyes that had long lost their light. The world around her began to fade, the only sound piercing through her sorrow was that of her own heart tearing through her chest.
She had come for tea, as they had planned just the day before. Ants had claimed her dropped carrot cake as their prize, disposing quickly of the soft cake. Alice begged with all her might to wake from this living nightmare, to be back in her bed, simply covered in sweat from the horrible dream.
His own blood smeared across his cheek as Alice caressed his cheek. There had been so many things that she wished to tell him. “Please, don’t go,” her whimpered voice shaking with an unspoken truth.
True feelings that would never be shared between them.
“Oh Blanc,” Alice cried, placing her head against his chest.
The door creaked, the second tenant making another appearance that late evening.
Alice drug her gaze up to him, sorrowful anger showing on her features. Why had he not come when she was crying out for help? Surely, he heard. Her mouth opened, words caught in her throat at the sight of him.
Little Oliver no more. Tall, broody. No amount of concern or worry on his face. A simple frown, an outstretched arm. Lightly gripped in his hand, the still warm gun had its barrel aimed at her chest.
“Why?”
Her answer never came, not one she could hear.
A gunshot.
Pain.
Silence.
A sky grieving for the almost lovers, watering the garden that soon would grow over. The cobblestones cleared of all traces of the act, blood washed away and soaked up into the fresh grass blades. A question with an open ending. One never spoken in the light of day.
Soon the carrots would begin to grow, the headstone of their unmarked grave.
Not really sure what this was about. I wanted something short and open ended. So, that’s what happened. Why’d he do it? No one knows. Maybe I’ll explain one day.
