Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Grace Lamont
Soft spoken but strong of will, Grace Lamont was a young woman who dated and was briefly engaged to Gotham City District Attorney, Harvey Dent. Early in their relationship, Harvey divulged to Grace his longstanding struggles with dissociative identity disorder. Grace was understanding and helped Harvey enter into an intensive psychotherapy with Dr. Nora Crest.
Dent made good progress with Dr. Crest, but the pressure of his reelection campaign worsened his symptoms. Worried that Harvey was breaking under the pressure, Grace shared her concerns with Harvey’s friend, Bruce Wayne. Both Grace and Bruce encouraged Harvey to step away from his work to, but he would not be dissuaded. With his friends' support, Harvey won reelection as District Attorney and he proposed marriage to Grace.
Things were looking bright until mobster Rupert Thorne attempted to blackmail Harvey with session notes pilfered from Dr. Crest’s office. A fight broke out that resulted in a terrible explosion that severely scarred the entire left side of Harvey’s face.
His mind broken, Harvey became the villainous Two-Face yet Grace never gave up hope that the real Harvey would come back to her. When Two-Face finally reached out to her, Grace expressed that she knew the good man she agreed to marry was still within him. Two-Face almost accepted her help, but the moment was ruined when Thorne and his goons appeared.
Batman arrived in time to help save Grace and Dent, but the damage was done. The Harvey that Grace once knew and loved seemed to be gone forever and, broken hearted, she was forced to move on with her life.
Actress Murphy Cross provided the voice for Grace Lamont with the character first appearing in the seventeenth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘Two-Face Part One.’
