today i want to introduce another character from my original universe, so i’ll introduce you formally to ambrose!

he’s a local librarian that edgar met through rain (since edgar and rain are rarely apart) and despite his quieter nature ambrose did eventually warm up to edgar. ambrose also helped rain come out of their shell a little despite their anxiety about socializing and even got them to work in the library as an entertainer mostly for younger audiences.

on occasion, ambrose has also had to pick up edgar when he got a little too drunk… whoops. (this became a lesser occurrence after edgar turned, but ambrose still gets a call occasionally, sometimes for even more interesting reasons haha)

and despite edgar being a little bit of a thorn in his side, they became close to each other and eventually started hanging around each other more. alongside rain and december, they were a group of friends that learned to stick together through thick and thin, a support system that seemed unlikely at first

as i posted about edgar and co celebrating pride, it also felt appropriate to the month to have them showing off theirs together! the journey of self discovery is a lot less scary with friends by your side.

because i’m really nervous about my OCs still i don’t talk a whole ton about them but edgar’s best friend — someone he knew since they were both children — is rain, a childhood friend with an extremely shy demeanor who also tends to struggle to talk to someone within the first encounter or two - they would be more likely to chime in every so often at least with edgar around because he makes them feel more at ease but they do still have a lot of anxiety and get nervous fast

appearance wise, rain is quite a bit taller then edgar at around 6 feet or so (i didn’t decide an exact number; just know they are tall and pretty broad in figure)

visibly they have that notable height and body build, blue hair, and heterochromatic eyes similar to this picrew image:

some extras:

-it isn't one hundred percent accurate as normally their hair is fully decorated with moon and star shaped hair accessories throughout (probably done most often by edgar since they don't have the patience to do it all on their own) -their go to outfit is casual and usually always features a crop top-- belly out club /j -they are adept at a type of light magic that lets them create and manipulate it into shapes, making the magic shows they do really fun -edgar and rain have a very strong family dynamic and egdar would literally do anything for rain. he loves them with every ounce of himself and they've been close for a long time now so they know and trust each other a LOT. i would say with zero hesitance that if anyone knows everything about edgar, that person is definitely rain.

all about health - meals and mind

meals: how many meals does my muse eat a day? what do they generally consist of?

a couple meals a day or so if he remembers, but he’s prone to getting absorbed into the things he likes doing leading to him potentially putting it off until he can’t think past his hunger. alternatively he does just outright forget to eat on some days even if he’s not doing anything, having days where he doesn’t even register being hungry and the thought of eating is off putting.

i wouldn’t really describe him as picky about food though, so he’ll make a meal of what’s available, and enjoys gathering his own food where possible.

mind: does my muse have any mental conditions that affect their lives? what are they? how do they handle them? what coping methods do they use most?

i feel like dys is extremely depressed and has little coping methods, unfortunately. there may be other underlying things, but most of the time no one’s really bothered to help him with any of it from what we know. he’s known to dissociate from it, tries to stay busy to keep from thinking about his problems now, and has expressed hating being kept from exploring when forced into taking rest days. he feels like he always needs something to do and can’t stand being stuck inside.

i think he’s an extremely light sleeper now, so that when he does manage to sleep he can wake up fairly quickly. just hearing someone in his vicinity is enough to wake him too because of that, or if someone were talking nearby. i wouldn’t recommend physical touch (ie shaking him by the shoulder), unless absolutely necessary but it will wake him if he’s sleeping more deeply then usual, but that’s pretty rare now.

ಠಿ_ಠ: Do they look up or down when they are trying to recollect something?

i’d think he looks up as he’s trying to remember things most of the time, rather then looking straight down

dys is a decent dancer on his own, and has actually done some dancing in a talent show some years ago but he hasn’t taken part in anything like that in a long time. but i think he’s a pretty fluid dancer on his own and he’s physically in pretty good shape because he’s often physically active. dancing casually is fine, i feel like dancing with someone would be when he’s a little clumsy, and he’d never dance with just anyone whether casually or intimately. in groups, he can at least blend in, but he doesn’t seem like the type to enjoy being around a lot of people all at once.

a while ago, i decided to get a simple solo piece of haochen enjoying dancing, something that he loves, since the only other full art he has is his reference sheet right now. it's probably one of his favorite hobbies, even if it took a lot of practice to become decent at it. he mostly did this in his free time while in the village, and it remains a hobby that breaks up the monotony of his days in a larger city. he seems to enjoy pursuing varied artistic hobbies like this, learning and reading about them to further his knowledge and try new techniques.

Nope, and I'm not sure him and his siblings ever did- I think it's unlikely, haha.

Another no: I don't think he has that kind of strength, to be honest.

3: Ambrose nearly drowned in a river as a child. ✖

Luckily no.

4: Ambrose has an intense fear of doctors. ✖

He's so used to seeing doctors that the anxiety associated is something he doesn't really take note of anymore (maybe if something serious were going on, he'd feel that more intense fear/anxiety again, though) considering he spends a lot of time in those settings (hospitals, doctor's offices).

5: Ambrose is a youngest child. ✔

Technically, yes? He's a twin, but they also have an (unnamed currently) older sister so I'm counting that as a yes loosely lol

6: Ambrose is the gay cousin. ✔

Yup.

7: Ambrose is oblivious to any and all romantic interest someone may show them. ✖

I don't think so, I think more accurately he's just nervous about romance because of his lack of experience at this current point in time. So he probably won't say anything if he's unsure, but I don't consider him oblivious, if someone was making that kind of advance he would notice and is likely to be very flustered at first.

8: Ambrose wakes up on November 1st and starts decorating for Christmas. ✔

100% Ambrose is that type of guy, he'll put up whatever decorations he can manage to put up on his own that don't require any heavy duty efforts.

9: Ambrose has a very low alcohol tolerance. ✔

It is very low, if he were able to drink, I don't think it would take much for him to be drunk/tipsy, unfortunately for him. He avoids alcohol altogether because it also makes him sick.

10: Ambrose likes being alone. ✖

Definitely not. He hates being alone, and would rather have company, hence why he doesn't usually mind visitors popping in to see him as long as he's well enough at that time and they're people he's friends with.
