Relationships: The Boys

Quite a few of our muses were celebrating Valentine’s Day whether they’re fans of it or not. We have a lot of shipped characters with different relationship stages whether committed, married, casual, friends with benefits and engaged. Let’s introduce you to them, starting with our boys.

David and Jane

Jane wouldn’t have guessed that the wounded man she decided to help would turn out to be a vampire and her true love. Intrigued that his undead status wasn’t wholly affected by her succubus powers, Jane was finally able to get to know someone properly without worrying about harming them. They eventually started a relationship. They’re committed but you won’t see them handing out the PDA. They enjoy a quiet attraction.

Paul x Tamara

Paul is non-committal. He’s in the eternal life good for fun and living life, not to be attached to someone forever. As bisexual, Paul is attracted to both genders and has numerous flings with both guys and girls but he tries to make it a point that he’s not looking for a committed relationship. He does, however, like to return to djinn Tamara who he has a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship with.

Dwayne and Mae

Dwayne and Mae were an instant attraction. Used to being part of a circle of vampires, Mae wasn’t at all stunned to learn Dwayne was one, feeling that she fits in better with the the undead rather than humans. They enjoy spending time together and Mae one day hopes Dwayne will eventually turn her into a vampire so she can spend eternity with him.

Marko and Bonnie

Marko and Bonnie first met when Bonnie was a freshman in college. Bonnie was instantly attracted to his hidden mischief and biker look. Being pansexual, Marko was attracted to her vibrancy. However, when he made vague comments about being something otherworldly, Bonnie immediately got creeped out, gave him a fake name and number and ghosted him for ten years. She ended up becoming a vampire straight afterwards, sired by Jasper. After years of casual flirting, they bumped up their relationship to casual dating. Sometimes they’re together, sometimes they’re not. Perfect for two souls who don’t really do eternal life commitment.

My ArtFight production has been incredible these first couple of days. 18 fullbody drawings with flat colors! I can't hold myself to this kind of pace all month but I'm so happy with how fast I've gotten!

One of the things I've learned about art projects, particularly writing and sequential art, is that you don't always need to know all the details when you start. The shape of the work will be formed by things like your skill level and your history in the medium, not necessarily conscious decisions or how much time you spend refining. I don't consider this a bad thing; rather, that's often what creates the identifying characteristics of a person's style because no one has the exact same journey. And it can lead to that phenomenon with characters and stories surprising their creators! All that to say, I'm of the school of thought that it's often to your artistic benefit to tackle your projects as a means of learning how to make them. Preparatory work is still helpful! I like to at least have a path leading away from Point A in the general direction of Point B. But it's okay to not have every step mapped out ahead of time.

I've said it before but I was cooking so hard with WAMIHS. What a good fic. My gut reaction is to admit something self-disparaging here, acknowledge it's not perfect, but yknow what, screw that. It's A Good Fic, Bront.
