my favorite color is orange because it is cheerful and unique and a tad bit random and I even like orange with purple even though everyone tells me they clash
I have blue eyes but recently a lot of people say I have grey eyes... Which is interesting and I kinda like the idea that I have grey eyes

Dean had been missing for far too long. Cas had been scanning cities as fast as he can and he wasn't finding anything. Dean was far too good at hiding and with all the spells preventing them from being supernaturally found, it was unbelievably difficult to find his humans.
As Cas scanned Santa Cruz, he didn't think it was likely that he would find the Winchesters, but he had to be thorough. He was passing by a sub shop, Beach City Grill, when he spotted someone that resembled Dean. This Dean was weird, maybe he was trying to hide from Zachariah. His hair was shaved close on the sides and the top was, well, absurdly tall and a strange color. Cas may not have seen Dean in a week, but he was quite certain that Dean did not have green hair. The sideburns looked more like Sam's, large, but well-kept. But this was the closest thing to a lead that Dean had found.
He approached Beach City Grill and looked in the windows. It looked like all the sub shops he had passed, a big counter, some small booths, a grill, and an odd assortment of people. Outside the window, he stood, hunched forward a little bit, and stared in. His overcoat rustled around his calves in the salty breeze and he felt the eyes of all the Grill patrons on him. As another person came up behind him and opened the door, he could smell the familiar greasy scent of food he knew Dean would love. The sound of laughter roused him from his thoughts and he decided he would enter. He needed to speak with Dean, odd hair or not.
The small shop was loud, but pleasant. And it smelled like the kinds of foods that Dean enjoyed. Altogether, an unsurprising choice for a place to hide out, if the searcher actually knew Dean.
Dean's hair had been obvious enough as Cas had searched, but the outfit might be the best cover imaginable. He was wearing a kilt, Castiel tilted his head to the side as he flipped through the Winchester lineage in his head. Dean was definitely not Scottish, but maybe that was part of his secret identity. Though, the Scots are a people with a fairly strong sense of cultural pride and the shirt that Dean was wearing didn't seem particularly respectful. The meaning escaped Cas though. Humans and their references, Dean in particular, were the most perplexing part of interacting more directly with humanity.
"Hey, HELLO, you gonna order? Subs by the inch, what do you want?"
The woman was gorgeous. Auburn hair, intelligent and charming glint to her eyes, smile that was filled with laughter. She had the same kind of air that Dean has. Charm, hidden intelligence, kindness. And, Dean seemed to like her, as he watched from the grill-top.
"Right, I would like a cheeseburger sub, 6," extra cheese." Cas may never understand all the references Dean makes, but he had gotten much better at many of the little human things.
"K, Constantine. That gonna be for here or to go?"
"For here would be good."
"Alright, well take a seat and it'll be a couple minutes."
"Priestly, you got that?
Castiel sat at a table for two people and watched Dean work the grill. The sound of hamburger sizzling and the sent of it cooking and cheese melting was delightful, but he was beginning to be concerned over Dean's reason for ignoring him. Had the angels found him? Was Sam around here somewhere? Was this like that ploy with the company to make Dean realize that it was his destiny to follow their plan? Whatever the reason, Cas was hoping that Dean would acknowledge and speak with him sooner than later. Most of all, he hoped Dean knew that he was Dean.
___________________________
He had been going to the restaurant every day for a week. The sub was delicious. The people were interesting. But, Castiel was absolutely vexed with the situation. He had not spotted any angels around, so it was doubtful that this was a strange set up Zachariah had orchestrated. The other people in the shop spoke to Castiel plenty. Dean, or Priestly as he seemed to be called here, spoke with him sometimes, but not more than he did with other customers.
He didn't even seem to recognize Castiel and it was making the angel anxious. He was contemplating the best way to approach Dean, when a sub being tossed in front of him startled him from his reverie.
"Dude, maybe you should try a new sub. I love a burger as much as the next guy, but your gonna end up with a heart attack."
Dean had spoken directly to Cas, and not just as part of general restaurant banter others had begun. Well, this might be a sign that Dean knew and was ready to talk.
"Well, these make me very happy. Your burgers are superb."
He just raised an eyebrow and smirked, before he turned back to making more subs.
That was it. Castiel was going to talk to Dean tonight and get things going. He had been patient enough. It was literally the end of the world and Dean was playing cook. He would catch the man leaving work tonight and they would talk. Well, Cas would probably yell, but Dean was fucking this up and Cas had reached the absolute end of his tolerance.
