“HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!” The princess didn’t even hesitate before grabbing the little girl into her arms and swinging her around before pulling her into a hug. Then she leaned in to nuzzle her forehead gently against the other’s.
“Have you been good this year?” She asked playfully, “are you going to get a nice present, do you think?

“Ok, here’s what I want to do! I want to try making something totally different - like, not a cake or muffins... like something I’ve never made before! Something people won’t expect!!” A pause. “But... I don’t have any ideas at all.”

“Hey, Luigi!! Just the man I was hoping to see! I’ve got a question for you!” It was something super irrelevant, actually, but it would be a decent enough conversation starter - and Peach was always glad for an excuse to spend some time with one of her friends! Especially when said friend was someone she rarely got to have one-on-one time with - she loved Mario to death, but it would be nice to hang out with just his brother once in a while, too. Hopefully Luigi would return the princess’ sentiments.
“Anybody up for an evening stroll before bed...?” It would be nice to have someone accompany her for once, instead of wandering the gardens by herself as she usually did. It was always nice to have someone to talk to.

Peach wasn’t entirely sure of what was going on. It seemed like everything she saw was moving through a slow fog - her every though seems sluggish, everything she heard, a beat behind. She tried a few times to form words, to try and clarify what was happening - to try and better understand any of it - but her tongue felt like it was made of lead. It was heavy, and she was entirely unable to utilize it and form words. She was stuck.
Somewhere in her head it registered that she wasn’t home anymore. That something unplanned had happened. Maybe something bad. She could see the castle looming ahead of her, and a hundred or more men kneeling under her.... but it didn’t seem to mean much. A vague recognition made itself known in the back of her mind; but she couldn’t place her finger on it.
When her guide - who she now remembered as Kagaho - took to his knees as well, a light smile appeared unbidden on the princess’ face. She didn’t know all the details of where she was right now, or of what was happening... but in some, unfamiliar way, it all felt..... right. Like it was supposed to be happening. She nodded at the men before her, then turned her attention to Kagaho and finally found her voice.
“Lead on,” she said quietly.

Blink.
“....oh.” Of course that was what she had meant - that only made sense. The princess let out a tired laugh, “I’m sorry! I’m not totally here right now.... long day.” She’d been far too busy lately - all kinds of political nonsense and events to coordinate, and she’d barely been sleeping to top it all off; it was amazing she hadn’t come down with something yet. Knock on wood.
“Of course I can pick you up!” The girl was perhaps a little big to be asking something like that; but Peach knew how important it was to show little ones affection and love, and Penelope never seemed to be accompanied by her parents, so surely that was an area in which she was lacking. She bent down and pulled the girl into a hug, then scooped her into her arms with a little smile.
“How’s that?”

Leo momentarily stops his struggling, honestly surprised to see the princess here. He thought something was off when he tried some of the cake she made, and upon waking up, placed inside a dungeon of some sort. Not once did he suspect the woman to do this to him…. and if this is some kind of prank….
He certainly doesn’t appreciate it.

“Hi!”
She couldn’t help but giggle at his response. Of course he was surprised - who would ever expect sweet little Peach to go as far as to kidnap someone!? Nobody, obviously, which was why her plan had worked flawlessly.
Although, now that she had him…. she wasn’t entirely sure what she was going to do with him.
“Hmmmm…. what was your name, again?”
She stood over him with her hands on her hips, thinking. Peach would know, of course - but she’d never cared enough to pay attention to the names of the people they interacted with. And this boy was no exception.
“I’m sure we’ll be able to think of something to use you for!”
The paladin limps from one corner of the palace to another, seriously wounded, and bleeding.
“Oh my gosh!” The moment she noticed the stranger the princess surged forward. All thoughts of stranger danger didn’t even cross her mind - all she could see were the injuries, and she knew she had to do something!
“Please, sit down!” She stopped at the injured party’s side and gestured to a nearby armchair. “I’ll find the first aid kit!!”
