Helvella monachella has an unusual appearance and is listed in the Red Data Book in my country due to its rarity. Claimed as not edible, as mostly species of Pezizomycetes — maybe not very toxic, but not tasty too.
Likes the sand soil with a lot of dampness, grows near the lakes and swamps. Even if the mushroom is not edible for humans, it creates a growing environment for the other plants with the mechanism of symbiosis.
