I know fandom likes to ignore it, because it's inconvenient, but Wei Ying and Lan Zhan actually HAVE an age difference.

Wei Ying and Lan Zhan were the same age, but our main character died at about the age of 22. All. End. I know the theory that she was actually hanging out there is very appealing, but death literally doesn't work that way. Wuxian died, that's a fact, and it's also a fact that he doesn't remember anything.

He was frozen at the age when he died.

And now, having risen from the dead, he is still 22 mentally, and Lan Zhang (and Jiang Chen) are 35-36 years old.

Oh, you know, marriage between 22 and 35 looks as dubious as possible…

I would prefer, instead of a toxic relationship with a terrible age difference, tied to feelings of guilt (well, who else would blame me, it's worth appreciating that the beautiful Doe had mercy and tolerates me) with a man whose psyche is clearly not the healthiest (Wangji was literally obsessed with a man with whom he had known for a maximum of thirteen years) since he is undoubtedly putting under himself a man who rose from the dead just yesterday!

In general, taking all this into account, I would prefer that after the resurrection, Wuxian's bisexuality actually played a role, and he would have an affair with some 20-22 year old girl. With a mentally healthy one. This would clearly be better than the dubious canon that exists now.

That's not an unpopular opinion, about their incompatibility, on contrary. But totally wrong if to look from the point of Modern Reader, Who Reads About Pseudo-Ancient Fantasy times and Accepted That Fact (sorry, but too many people are like here, in fandom). And you didn't accept that you read sort of Fantasy, when there are immortal cultivators with different moral points of view on their life choices, and try to put it all on the modern rails.

Just think about something interesting. LWJ (and WWX before the core transferring) in canon has a huuuge chances to became an immortal being (or, at least, very slowly aged). He is 36yo, ok, it seems like "old man" for us😁. But he had an uncle, who, in his 60-70 yo (and we are still in Middle Ages, so it's A Lot) went to save Lan younglings from very dangerous place. With the spiritual sword, which (canonically) needs a huge amount of energy for wielding. And nobody stopped him. So, conclusion 1: his uncle age is normal for that activity and not a retirement age. Meanwhile, Lan younglings have near 16yo, and they were send ALONE without supervision in the Night Hunting. So, they are nearly mature adults and cultivators there. Conclusion 2: the cultivators are matured early depends of their power levels. Therefore, LWJ (36) and MXY(20+)-rebornWWX(22) in the terms of society are equally mature for Adult Things.

Another point: LWJ in his younger ages is pictured less mature mentally, that WWX. He is so stubborn about WWX'S modao way (their only hope to win the war), he didn't took the responsibility for standing rightfully against the all jianghu with Wen Remnants; he subdued to his clan punishment, but didn't save his beloved by this action. He is too shy for even accept his first kiss-crime. Like adolescent, not adult.

Meanwhile, WWX had already view some serious sh*t in life and understand earlier his adult responsibility. He made mistakes ofc, but he plays as equal with older Sect Leaders. So, at least +5-10 years mentally. And really, his sister's, Wens' and his own deaths gave him another age points.

And after "years freezing" they had only some years of difference. Estimated LWJ as real 36 yo (because he matured after WWX death) and WWX as 30+ yo.

About bisexuality: who, canonical WWX, really??? 🤣🤣🤣 His flirtations with canonical girls were like "I'm your bro friend, not boyfriend, don't worry, sis"))). Reading books doesn't mean real desires. But as for LWJ... He thought about him constantly. LWJ is his "what shirt I must wear today" guy. His zhiji. Even before death.

And maybe it's a little too much off conception for someone from our modern world, but... He is romantic. He dreams about one and forever love. He was not committed to one-stand relationships (many reasons, why), even if he had a possibility and needs. And it's normal for long-living cultivators, who prefers to find the best for themselves or wait and cultivate their powers without the distractions. Not all of them (JGS), but who had some spiritual powers.

And due to his canonical behaviour with "spring books", it could totally be that he is demisexual by nature. So, which 22yo-girl could stand near his gorgeous illustrious (and very hot) zhiji with so much emotional bonding in the past? 😁

Yes, they both - LWJ and WWX, have their mental injuries from the past. But they worked them together. Willingly. And with great mutual pleasure, not only in bed, but in life. Where is the toxicity? Age gap? Even by modern standards — no.

So funny, but so sad 😒.

Their son was born as mortal and must enter the reincarnation cycle. Or it is totally forbidden to become the god in that young age, even for the son of two gods. So they sent him from Heaven Realm to MDZS world, in body or soul without any knowledge about his ancestry, for passing the needed tribulations.

His mortal (adopt) parents could know about his origins — and JFM couldn't be too attached to not-his-son, as in canon, and YZY decided that her Holy Mission in life is to make JC in the paragon of all virtues and her own pride. Or they not know at all...and it would be the same case 🙄.

His real parents were strictly forbidden to help JC in his tribulations at all (they still tried subtly). So imagine their horror, when JC lost his golden core. And even more, when they found that WWX gave his core to him. FengQings feared that due to that their son could never ascend properly (carmic loan, Shi Qingxuan&He Xuan swapping fate case, etc.)

Warnings! I really kissed that brick before, but still! So... What if WWX was the HuaLians child? With that same problems as JC. Just imagine the level of total nightmare for both "heavenly" families... Gifted golden core. Competitiveness. Hard choice between his clan and his martial brother's life (FengQings caught the flashbacks of their past apparently 😑). Hatred and death. Reborn of WWX. Etc, etc.

If JC somehow discovered his heavenly ancestry... Sorry, but I guess, he wouldn't think of himself as worthy person to be their son. Because we all want to be better that our parents all the time. Especially Jiang Cheng. And he would be dispirited, because they are gods and he is mortal (and not the best). There probably would be a lot of harsh family drama and miscommunications, but still could be hope for reconciliation (maybe centuries away after his own ascending).

This is... A half year of writing. A months of editing (wayyy more stressful). A fear "it's so silly, nobody will read it, when there are a lot of beautiful fics around". A year of constant re-reading because I sometimes forgot what was in the middle 😁.

Of course, everything will not go according to plan. And don't even count on the help of that Almighty Protagonist: it seems that according to the new page of story, not everything is so clear with the distribution of roles and bonuses...

Demiurge, transferred by a whim of fate into the body of a secondary antagonist? Did you want to sit quietly, refusing all risks and temptations in order to maintain peace of mind? Huh, you cannot escape from the race in the wheel of events, even if you are stuck inside the demonic Holy Mausoleum! Honestly, I was so stunned, when I found out that my work became the 100th of that pairing 😳. And THE SECOND in Ukrainian.

Just...why?

Ok, the characters were young in the time of Banyue Arc in TGCF, so no explicit scenes, it's totally understandable; it's the F/M canonical side relationship (and not defined clearly), not so popular as main shipping, yeah. But so tiny numbers in all AO3? They're so cool (and angsty, and sad, and why Xie Lian didn't stay with them in their childhood etc.) ☺️

So I tried to fix canonical "unreliable narrator" and "it was long ago" and imagined more clearly, how they could find their way during the war of two kingdoms...

It’s waking up excited about your idea… then doubting it by afternoon. It’s rereading yesterday’s work and wondering who wrote it — and why it sounds off. It’s watching other authors announce wins while you’re still fixing chapter two.

No one talks about the quiet weight of creating something from nothing.

The pressure to be original. The fear of being overlooked. The exhaustion of caring this much about imaginary people.

You love writing. That’s the problem.

Because when you love it, every flat scene feels personal. Every rejection stings deeper. Every slow month feels like proof you’re falling behind.

And still… you keep showing up to the page.

That’s what makes you a writer.

Not the perfect prose. Not the follower count. Not the launch graphics.

It’s the decision to sit down again, even when it feels pointless.

If you’re doubting yourself right now, you’re in the middle of becoming better. The messy, frustrating middle is part of it.

You’re not behind. You’re building.

And the writers who last? They’re the ones who stay when it’s quiet.

I can't be more grateful, that all of this exist only in fictional worlds. And all is unreal. Nobody dies. No one life is changed dramatically for the whim of some demiurge. No one loss all in the blink of the eye. Yeah, it is so good.

Only fictional. Yeah. I'm trying to believe in that constantly. Especially reading SVSSS and other similar plots.

How silly to think that we, writers, could shape, twist and bend someone's fates in other realities, isn't it?
