Jacob’s personal life is a bit of a mess. Judging by the music he’s been listening to. He told Upfonts that when he’s driving alone around London, he listens to ‘Guillotine’ by Death Grips. And the songs reflect his state of mind… that track is pretty dark

I listen to Death Grips quite a lot and there's a song called ‘Guillotine.’ This is too long an answer to go fully into, but there's a beautiful film I just saw called Is God Is. There's a scene in it where they're driving in a car listening to ‘Guillotine,’ which was a crazy moment for me because that's what I do! I drive around London and I like crank up Death Grips when I'm on my own.

Me too, Anon. I was thinking about how Lestat was falling in love with Nicky and then Magnus, who was obsessed with Lestat and Aryan-looking dudes. I felt the shift in the song, I know we are gonna be blown away!

Ah yes. I think that’s the point, though. The whole energy of the show has shifted. We’re no longer trapped in Louis’s memories—we’re following Rockstar Lestat around North America. 😭 But I heard Daniel say he still did scoring for S3, so all that gorgeous music from S1 & S2 will still be present… AND Lestat is “writing his own songs” as well.

We didn’t get a soundtrack for season one and two until after the season started, right? The only reason we’re getting music now is because it’s integral to the storyline in a different way. Plus, I always thought it would be so cool if we were singing along with the songs as we watch the episode. 😊

Bo, what do you think about Butterscotch bitch and Your biggest fan???

I think that Sam’s vocals are next level now. I still take issue with his diction sometimes, but otherwise so good. Kudos to him and Matt Santos.

The songs themselves—I’m not a “rock” person. But I thought that Butterscotch B*tch was great—it had a sassy, sexy vibe, but it lyrically had a double-meaning. One that, if you read it, is actually quite sad, it conveys “I am acting like this because I am hurt” vibe. It was so well done as both a “front” and “hiding my feelings” that it completely changed how I was thinking of how this show and the music was going to go. The sound—represented a clear musical progression from the glam rock we were getting before. Very likable, very karaoke-able lol

“I’m Your Biggest Fan,” is almost a country pop vibe, but the lyrics…. the longing… I could almost see a young, human Lestat falling in love. This one is actual art. More musical progression…. more meaning hidden in poetry… it is also evoking the parallel of Magnus’ obsession with Lestat (ask for it Wolfkiller) and Lestat’s unceasing love for Louis (but you have to ask for it). When a song can dreg up memory and nostalgia, you know it will have a powerful effect in the show.

Daniel Hart is a beast. I can’t wait for Lestat to get to a genre I really like, but so far? I’m into it even songs I wouldn’t have chosen to listen to if it weren’t part of the show. How about you?
