Album Artwork - 2 cover art submissions for Secret 7″ for the songs ‘Koffee - Toast’ and ‘The Internet - Come Over”
Below shows the image that I presented at my crit, which to me was about half finished. I was planning on an overcrowded scene as this is what I enjoy, and I also wanted to really push the idea of celebration within Jamaican communities (significant to song lyrics), and to do this, I felt it needed to include an abundance of Caribbean food. However the feedback was that the image is almost finished only with a few tweaks needed (to colour and texture) as the message is well presented and album covers require some negative space.
Also they liked the view point and slight distortion of depth making it less realistic but more visually interesting.
I partially took on the advice by not going overboard on additional items in the image, however I couldn’t make hints to Caribbean culture and NOT include famous rice and peas.
I also added a title even though the competition brief says not to (it’s a secret auction where the audience don’t know what song they are buying) just to play around with the negative space. I will remove this for the submission.
I then moved on to my second entry for the competition, making sure to take on this feedback and include negative space but still have details which provide narrative.
