Switching the Way I Listen to Music

Before the internet I had a great time just browsing through record stores. I still do when I can find them. In Vegas we still have Zia records and when I visit LA I try to Amoeba.

Then music started getting distributed more through the internet and bloggers came to great power, at least among people who still like to buy physical copies and be on the cutting edge of whatever genre. I have been that guy for many years. It’s hard not to be.

This year though I’m moving away from the new music heavy listening and switching to listening to what is coming here to Vegas on tour. I’m trying to enhance my live music experience by getting to know the songs the performers are likely to play.

I’m not sure how this will affect my year end lists or even if it’s something that’s sustainable.
