A-Z Headcanons | Accepting | Hero - What makes someone a hero in their eyes? Who is their biggest hero in life? Why? Do they consider themselves to be heroic?
i think most likely, in much the same way he idealizes romance, he does the same with the topic of heroism. which means in a lot of ways baron is maybe kind of hilariously the very picture of a hero to him laughs-- dashing, compassionate, charming, and always ready to leap into the fray to come to someone’s rescue, even if they’re a stranger. their heroic deeds don't necessarily have to be grandiose gestures, but they do have to be courageous and bold. it isn't enough simply to be kind, there must be an element of daring and fearlessness in their endeavors as well. continuing on that, i imagine he often expects them to be quite independent, able to draw strength from some inner pool of confidence, and therefore not easily swayed or broken
and perhaps as expected bc of that, no, he doesn't tend to consider himself a heroic individual. he's far too meek for that. he can be helpful, kind, and downright altruistic, and he can be quite stubborn on occasion in his quiet drive to express and cherish those traits, but he can not be heroic
‘heroic’ implies direct and assertive action, not standing by in a position of support (tho don’t assume that means he necessarily thinks little of his own usual part to play-- as much romance and idealism as he might stuff into the concept of heroism and heroes themselves, he very much feels that hearth-guarding duty, if you will lmao, is one worth admiring, although outwardly it is still in his nature to wave it off)
as for who he might consider the biggest hero in his present life, well. i’m not too sure there are any. i could see him feeling that it’s rather childish to feel that way about anyone, considering both the fact he is quite likely to be older than that person and also that in the grande scheme he’s rather high in the hierarchy of the cat kingdom, so it might be kinda silly to look up to someone like that
however, i do imagine he still has a lot of admiration both for the grandmother who raised him and for the previous advisor, who played a mentor role for him. yet, again, bc of his ideas on what makes a Legitimate Hero, he’d be hesitant to label either of them a hero thinking emoji
