I absolutely loved your mute!Aether !! It got me thinking about how would he be in a relationship? Like just general relationship head canons?

A/n: hello! I’m glad you enjoy my take on mute! Aether! I genuinely love writing for him, which is strange because for a while I thought that the traveler was a bland character, but I weirdly love writing for aether???? (I haven’t written for lumine yet so… I’m not sure if I’d actually enjoy writing for her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but anyway! Hope you enjoy!

Aether I feel would he rather clingy in a relationship, and he especially relies on conveying his love through physical affections, and actions.

You’d definitely have to do most of the talking in the relationship since not many people in teyvat know sign language, so at restaurants, grocery store, and so on, you’d do the talking. He definitely appreciates it and will give you a ton of kisses as a thank you :)

I think when he’s upset he just wouldn’t sign anything, just frantically wave his arms around. I think he’s a very emotional person honestly, so when he’s upset he’s u p s e t so trying to understand what he’s saying is a bit difficult. But, thankfully you can calm him down fairly easily.

If you don’t know sign language when you meet he definitely is going to have some trouble communicating with you, but thankfully you find someone to teach you :)

Aether has a strange fondness for when you put flowers in his hair, I just had to say it. I think lumine would braid his hair for him, and put flowers in it so they would match, and now his s/o does the same thing!

Aether has absolutely mastered communicating through body language, and facial expressions, and that plays into when he’s jealous or just wants your attention. He’ll make it obvious something is up, and that he does not like it.

You probably have signals for when you see or hear something while traveling. Aether is literally being hunted down by the fatui, I would be astonished if you didn’t have some kind of signal that let the other person know When you saw/ heard a fatui agent.

Keeps his eye on you at all times. He will not lose someone else he loves, and especially since you have gone through so much effort to help him find his sister. He genuinely cares.

Probably have matching bracelets, that rest on your dominant hand. I’m not sure why but I think aether is really into that kind of thing.

Most definitely makes extra time to go to all the festivals across teyvat, and at said festivals aether absolutely spoils you. He makes sure you have an amazing time.

Speaking of spoiling you, he definitely gets you a fair amount of gifts to show he loves you, but their smaller things because you both can only carry so much on your travels, like the bracelets I talked about! They’re small, but they mean a lot.

I didn't know how much I needed mute!Aether until now it fits his character so well. As for plot, I was hoping for a love confession (on either side), though if you have something you want to do, that's ok too hun

The waves washed up on the sandy floor, the sharp and familiar smell of the ocean flooded your nostrils, and the familiar sight of aether waiting on the beach in front of you. He smiled as you got closer, the sunset beautifully complimenting his features.

His hands intertwined nervously, but quickly move so he can sign to you, signing that he’s happy you came. You smiled and chuckled a bit, “of course I came, but… why here?” Finally standing right in front of him, your eyes watching his hands move nervously, telling you everything.

How he woke up on this beach after he lost his sister, and how this is where he spent most of this time, nothing to do in an unfamiliar world. Until he met you. You were one of the few people who genuinely tried to help him find his sister, you were the one who stayed with him throughout all of this, you… were the one who cared.

“Aether…” you were moved by his words, it was clear he was speaking from the heart. And as his hands shakily signed the last few words he would say that night. He sighed, anxiously awaiting your response. “I love you too.” You said with a almost sad smile, and hugging him tightly.

A/n: hello! I’m glad you like my take on mute!aether! I feel I’m not great at… expressing He’s mute if that makes sense? Like I find it sort of difficult to write, but I’m glad that you still like it! Hope you enjoy, and have a lovely rest of your day/ evening! :D

“And this is… thank you?” You say moving your hands the exact way aether taught you. He nodded with a lying and nervous smile, and your eyes lit up in response. Aether has been trying to teach you sign language to better communicate with him, and while it’s different you’d be willing to do anything to make things easier for the both of you.

You’re starting off with the basics like, thank you, yes, no, please, goodbye, hello. You know very basic communication phrases. You have no idea how aether mastered teyvat sigh language in a few months, while you have been living in teyvat your whole life and knew none of it!

Clearly it just goes to show how dedicated aether can be. That and how he’s still teaching you after a few weeks of you struggling and trying to memorize it all. “Paimon thinks that was… incorrect” paimon spoke up, making you turn your head to the floating child.

You stood there almost blank faced and said, “what…?” Aether very much did not want to tell you that you were wrong… but you were very wrong. You got the whole motion incorrect, but he didn’t want to discourage you!

Defeated you listen to paimon explain, as aether stands there internally face palming. After paimon done, and you think you’ve listened to hear speak enough for the rest of your lifetime, aether takes your hand and give you a reassuring smile.

You can almost tell what he’s trying to say with just the look on his face. You sigh and he cups your cheek as a “you got this”. Memorizing things wasn’t your strong suit and aether knew that, so he always tried his best to encourage you. “Alright paimon… how do I do it again?”
