Fun fact: the so-called tigers are actually semi-reptilian creatures that existed in a generational cycle of intelligence and animal instinct.

Another fun fact: Hitchemus' surface is 7/8 water, with the island of Port Any being the only significant landmass.

Type: terrestrial planet

Location: Sensorian system, Horsehead Nebula

Nearby planets: The Ood-Sphere

Inhabitants: Sensorites, Zilgans

Visited by: the First Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara

First appearance: The Sensorites (1964)

Fun fact: the Sense-Sphere had unique properties which allowed the Sensorites to develop a symbiotic relationship with it. They evolved telepathy and their thoughts constantly reshaped the planet's interior.

Another fun fact: the Earth Empire attempted to take the planet in the 28th century, for its rich deposits of molybdenum.

Fun fact 3: the Doctor also visited the planet earlier in its history, in 'The Monsters of Earth" in the Doctor Who Annual 1966, where he encountered giant spiders known as Zilgans.

AKA: Counter-Earth; Marinus? Planet 14?

Type: Earth duplicate

Location: Solar system/deep space/Cherrybowl Nebula

Inhabitants: Mondasians/Mondans (humans); Cybermen

Animal life: mats

Status: destroyed, 1986

Visited by: the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa

Appearances: The Tenth Planet (1966); Spare Parts (2002); World Enough and Time (2017)

Fun fact: an almost exact duplicate of the Earth with its own human race, Mondas.was flung out of orbit and drifted through space.

Another fun fact: the planet's environment failed and the Mondasians converted into Cybermen to survive.

Fun fact 3: the Cybermen built a huge engine into Mondas to drive it back to the solar system.

Fun fact 4: Mondas drained Earth's energy until it destroyed itself (and also triggered the First Doctor's regeneration).

Location: either between the Sun and Mercury, or in another system 12 parsecs from Earth.

Atmosphere: oxygen rich

Environment: volcanic, with mercury pools

Visited by: the Second Doctor, Ben and Polly

Appearance: The Power of the Daleks (1966)

Fun fact: the mining colony on the planet was disrupted when a ship of Daleks was discovered, who plotted to take over the colony.

Another fun fact: most sources suggest this is the hypothetical planet Vulcan, the supposed closest planet to the Sun. The novelisation of the serial, however, stated it was Earth's third interstellar colony.

Fun fact 3: eventually ended up as an exhibit subject in the Museum of Things That Don't Exist.

AKA: Zaleria

Type: earthlike planet

Location: the Ninth System, outer rim of Mutter's Spiral

Terrain: jungle, plains

Inhabitants: Spiridons, Daleks

Affiliation: Dalek Empire, 26th century

Flora: eye-plants, fungoids

Visited by: the Third Doctor and Jo

Appearance: Planet of the Daleks (1973)

Fun fact: the native Spiridons have the power of invisibility, which the Daleks attempted to harness.

Another fun fact: Spiridon has a core of "molten ice" which erupts through "icecanoes" and bubbles up into freezing pools.

Fun fact 3: an army of 10,000 Daleks was left frozen on the planet.

Type: terrestrial/desert planet

Satellites: multiple moons and rings

Location: near Gamma Eridani/near the Andromeda Galaxy (of course, they can't both be true)

Landmarks: the Singing Towers of Darillium; one fancy restaurant in the 54th century

Home to: the Twelfth Doctor and River Song

Appearance: "The Husbands of River Song" (2015)

Fun fact: and they lived happily ever after

Location: Mutter's Spiral, but outside of standard time

Affiliation: Gallifrey

Notable inmates: Salyavin, Grandfather Paradox, the Master, Scintilla, the Krikkitmen

Visited by: the Fourth, Eighth and Eleventh Doctors, Romana II

Main appearance: Shada (1980/1991/2003/2017)

Fun fact: a Time Lord prison planet used to hold the worst criminals in space and time, who were trapped in suspended animation.

Another fun fact: visited in the unfinished serial "Shada," which has since been remade more than any other serial.

Fun fact 3: originally invented by Douglas Adams for the unfilmed DW script "Doctor Who and the Krikkitmen," which became the HHGttG novel "Life, the Universe and Everything."
