I think it’s fun having in-laws who had vastly different growing up experiences than you did (ex: my brother in law is very much a small town country boy stereotype) because how else in the world would I have organically learned the best rodeo tradition of them all: mutton busting.

so basically, imagine you’re a kid who’s grown up around rodeos and you think it’s so cool to see the adults riding on a bull and holding on and all that jazz. so you want to try it too! but, you are a child, and not very large, so instead of riding a bull, they test your riding prowess by having you hang on to a sheep…absolutely unhinged behavior.

aka strapping a small child onto the back of a sheep
