In light of that recent ask, some more Suzanne + Riku
“Sixteen seventeen eighteen ninet--”
“Mrs Strife, could--” He snapped his mouth shut, but it was too late; her finger had slipped when she gave a small start of surprise. A slightly petulant look stole across her face for the briefest of moments as she scanned the line of yarn loops, but with a small shrug she abandoned the search and looked up.
“Yes dear?” she asked pleasantly, lowering her hands and the short length of scarf into her lap.
“Please forgive me,” said Riku, inclining his head. “I shouldn't have interrupted.”
Suzanne gave a small puff that dismissed both the apology and a stray lock of hair. “You’re not interrupting anything.”
“I made you lose count...” he mumbled.
“Oh, they’re not going anywhere,” she chuckled. “What did you need?”
He looked up and found her watching him patiently, hands folded neatly across the abandoned knitting. It took a full ten seconds for him to remember what his query had been, and ten more to unstick his throat enough to ask it.
And if his voice was still a little croaky when he rejoined the twins in their bedroom, they were polite enough not to mention it.
“Shhhhhhh, Riku. Mother's counting stitches.”
