@alissa-xyz told me they had a dream about interviewing to be an assistant to The Marquis and I can’t stop thinking about it. I thought about it so much it’s under the cut
Being the personal assistant of the Marquis would be SO stressful and kinda sexy
It’s so stressful making sure everything is functioning smoothly for him and when you mess up boy does he get annoyed. But you still get (some) VIP access to the Louvre and Centre Pompidou and stuff.
Maybe some days you want to quit but you’re tearing up your 6 month notice when he has to get a suit fitted and you get to see him without the suit jacket so you mentally tear up your notice.
Not only are you the one who calls to rent out places for him, but you also go with him in case he has an important call or you need to jot something down. At the start, it was kinda overwhelming, how silent these places are and how much artwork there is to observe. You start to read and study some paintings (out of his eyesight) while there. Eventually, he starts to notice which pieces you gravitate towards and tells you to explain some of the meaning (when he’s in a good mood)
And maybe once when he’s in a great mood asks you if you have any plans for the evening, so you tell him you have a first date. Hearing that it makes him feel… strange. Angry even. You can’t figure out why he’s so cold to you the next day, to your knowledge you didn’t make any mistakes. While waiting for him to finish something you quickly tell a maid who you became close with that the date went badly. It was a guy from some organized crime ring but kept explaining how important he was. You tell your maid friend “I work for the most powerful man in France, and this guy trying to impress me with a minor drug sale”. Neither of you knew Vincent overheard and maybe just maybe he likes hearing you call him powerful.
Finally, he invites you to an opera or ballet because he magically had an extra ticket. You normally book his ticket (because it’s only for him) so you’re not sure how or why he has a second. But he invites you and tells you to dress up. So you do. And sure the ballet performance is nice and cool but you don’t fully understand what’s going on. To help you, he leans over in your space and whispers to you for the whole performance about what’s happening, hand bumping yours on the armrest while he gets closer.
