The first one! Grimm is basically heavily infected from the mold. While his species is more susceptible to it, its not inherent
The mold itself flourishes in warm moist environments on metal, but it can grow on any surface. Its usually one of the main hazards of the settings sewer systems. This specific mold also happens to be Rilleys main subject of study (too bad some of the most interesting samples shes ever found is also stuck on a violent motorcyclist with a chain whip and far more violent dog..)
If anything, its more of a wonder how Grimm even got to such a late stage of the infection. Its both one of the easiest infections to catch early on and treat due to the sheer fact that its fiberglass-like nature makes any stage of infection extremely painful. Even inorganic species that wouldnt experience pain the same way organic ones would, its still caught relatively early on as they would eventually experience malfunctions from the spreading mold.
You would practically have to go out of your way to let such an infection reach an untreatable stage. At least Grimm has an interesting personal arsenal now?

bianca can fully invert her skin from the back down into a stronger, more flexible form. she doesnt invert too often though (her clothes could get stained by her bodily fluids, very icky) save for utility reasons or on days shes particularly mad, usually at sid. all eyes and mouths lining her body are fully functional but she has no reason to use the mouths and is mildly inconvenienced by them
not posting this on my main art blog bc im planning on doing cleaner lines later but one of the minor post-g characters of mw, he calls people mouthbreathers and can pull anything out his hat but its always random

they dont have the best chemistry, but what can you do when youre all basically stuck together? i wanted these guys overall theme to be different types of puppets without leaning into their inspiration too much, and im pretty happy with everyones designs for the most part, i think rudy is the only one i kinda want to keep tweaking bc im still shaky on her colors
