The LED ring that seemed almost glaringly bright in the dimness of the bar shifted from yellow to a calm cyan as the towering Android strode past the booths one calculated step at a time. A man shifted aggressively in his seat but stilled as the RK500 drew near. Even a local with a criminal history of violence toward androids thought twice before squaring up with a unit that was well over six feet tall.
Unlike most units, this one did not wear a white uniform. Although the jacket was undoubtedly a product of Cyberlife with its glowing arm band and triangle on the chest, it was a dark gray and distinctly military in its shape. His skin was fair, and his eyes were a pale blue beneath dark, raven hair. Those eyes never wavered from Jesse’s face as synthetic legs carried him to the operative’s chair.
“Lieutenant McCree. My name is Fritz. I’m the android sent by Cyberlife.”
He didn’t wait for an answer before flagging down the bartender to order the man another drink, but his efforts only earned him a skeptical look from the business owner.
“You got money for that, robocop?”
Fritz paused, his LED spinning as his face pinched with annoyed confusion. A few bills were extracted from his coat pocket and set on the counter.
“How the fuck would I buy a drink without money?”
The bartender was taken aback, and it was a comical few seconds before he grabbed the bills and poured McCree another. The android settled lightly onto a stool beside Jesse, although both feet still reached the ground.
“Commander Reyes sent me with a message. He said you can’t sulk your way out of this one, and to get your sorry ass back to HQ.”
