Dear JY,

First, I’d like to apologize to you for being a one-brain-cell-having dumbass and calling you Jeye on VC, spawning an entire set of memes. From the bottom of my heart : my bad.

Second, though, I’d like to address the first major thing I ever knew about you : your divorce jokes. ...No, kidding. I read your fics when I first dove into TGCF AO3, and hua cheng has one brain cell specifically because the summary caught my eye and I was like, probably doesn’t have spoilers, let’s go. ( Not that I mind spoilers specifically, since I went blog-digging on yours to confirm some things, but you get me. ) It was such a delightful read, okay - just the right amount of light-hearted and romantic confusion. My other first reaction was wow, I don’t know who the fuck Mei Nian is, but apparently she loves him and I support her. I am now slightly older and slightly wiser, I do know, and I feel like I’m going to fall into that pit sooner or later.

Needless to say, I binged the rest of the fics that were up at the time too, since that’s what I usually do when I really enjoyed an author’s work. It just confirmed that I loved the way you wrote humor ( not to say you’re not capable of bringing out The Knives - hi, that Fenglan fic, hi, Yunmeng bros ), all while - as far as I could judge, since I wasn’t actually that far into TGCF at the time - staying true to the characters. Every relationship was genuine and quirky and endearing, and you fleshed out the characters who get a pitifully small amount of pagetime as far as I know anyway beautifully ( hi Junmei, hi Jian Lan ). Also, writing everything on mobile? Holy shit, girl. I screeched a little when you said that, because that quality?? All while typing away at your phone?? Can you believe??

Your writing’s only one of the many things I like about you, though. I was way too shy to message you before we got stuck together on the cursed server ( you were a big name ok!! I am Babey!! ), but I’m glad we did, because you are sweet ( to everyone except Anaïs and Rin sometimes ), but you also take no shit and don’t beat around the bush, which I honestly find admirable. I love all your screaming about Junmei’s seven times, and your screaming about merch, and your determination to keep any and all TGCF spoilers out of the chat to see us screech at you when we reached those parts, and your He Xuan usernames, even the Shechao That Shall Not Be Named, even if I had to spiritually bleach my eyes after that. You’re one of the people who made that server feel like a family, and for that, thank you.

I’m sincerely glad we got to meet and talk, and I hope these past few months are only the first of many more.

I want to end this letter by pointing out one of the most relatable AO3 tags I’ve ever seen, AKA I’m doing what mxtx won’t. Fuck knows it’s what we deserve.

so the first fic I ever read of yours was the one you wrote for my birthday and it was so cute??? your style of writing is really really poetic and I loved your characterization!!! not just of that sangcheng fic but also in the shuangxuan fic I read of yours, which was SO GOOD

your writing is soft and sweet but your angsty is so painful i really enjoy reading it

honestly?? I haven’t cared about mdzs for months now, and literally I’ve only read your fics since like,,, a month now (sangcheng’s barely keeping me in) AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH??? all your sangcheng fics are adorable and I love them a lot

A Sincere Letter to Jafndaegur

Letter for the @mxtxpositivity exchange!

Dear @jafndaegur,

It’s neat to find a fellow Wangxian writer! I may not know you very well, but I would like to thank you for being in the fandom, and creating beautiful works of Wangxian! I love how you wrote the poems for Wangxian Week 2019, all of them were beautiful and poignant. They are brief and succinct, and shows the love they have for each other! I love how you weaved the words together for your poems, as though they are a summary of the short paragraph that accompanies it, nothing more, nothing less. The writing is immersive and I can imagine the scene in my mind just as I read them.

Though I have not watched Inuyasha before, I love the premise of Gravitational Fairytale! I liked the idea of Mo Xuanyu being the reincarnation of Wei Wuxian, how he finds himself struggling with his own identity as he remembers the memories of Wei Wuxian. The conflict, with no positive outlet, naturally led to a character who has clearly suffered, with no guidance to help him cope. I like how Wei Wuxian accidentally takes over by instinct, calling out Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng by their names even though Mo Xuanyu shouldn’t even know who they are.

I like how Mo Xuanyu is also aware that he shouldn’t even know this and constantly tries to deny his past life as much as possible. It is very real and honest, like any other teenager overwhelmed by his past self’s memories would be. I look forward to seeing how they will resolve the identity crisis. Would they merge? Would they be split? The possibilities are endless! Also, I look forward to how the other characters will respond to this ‘reincarnation’ as well!

I am impressed at how you actually designed a book cover for Gravitational Fairytale. It fits nicely with the themes you have set out, and the border is simple and neat! I also love how you created banners for it as well! I can tell that each banner was made with love and care, because I would never be able to make banners like that for my fanfiction. The background you used for the banners fit nicely, especially the blue one where there is a crow flying through it. The red one is also nice because it is accurate to the Ancient Chinese setting, which not a lot of people managed to do very well due to the cultural differences.

I hope to see Gravitational Fairytale completed, because I can’t wait to see where you are going with it! It’s well-written, making it easy to read too. You also mentioned how much you like the Yunmeng Bros, so I look forward to how you will handle their reunion/relationship in the fanfiction or another work you might have. They are a lovely pair of brothers who deserved more, honestly, I hope to see that they might be able to resolve their differences in the story! With the dedication you showed for Wangxian Week 2019 by posting a work every day, I believe that you can finish the fanfiction eventually! After all, the motto of the Yunmeng Jiang sect is to attempt the impossible!
