I finally had some time to work on some old WIPs last night, and it feels good to finish this one up! Happy Pride from Cy and TJ, my sweet little nonbinary goobers~ 🌈

Warm sun. A pristine white sand beach stretching on for miles. Crystal clear ocean waves lapping upon the shore.

Chenhua had only seen such picturesque scenes as photos in travel advertisements, but as the foxian steps through the threshold of the private bungalow Dan Heng rented out for the two of them, she takes a few moments to gaze past where the aquamarine sea disappears over the horizon, utterly awestruck at the sight of personally laying witness to Thalassa's natural beauty. Chenhua can taste the salt that tinges the breeze upon her lips, and her eyes briefly flutter closed in contentment before she exitedly sets off to where her partner sits on a towel in the shade of an umbrella.

"Dan Heng!" She calls out, approaching his side from behind with a hand over the wide-brimmed sunhat flattening down her vulpine ears. The off-white two piece swimsuit she wears is a perfect fit for her slim and petite frame, with small flowers patterning the mesh-like fabric and leaving just enough room in the back for her tail to move about freely. Blunt fangs reveal themselves with Chenhua's brightly shining smile; a reflection of the sun that shines above the landscape. "I can't believe how beautiful it is out here. It's almost like a dream!"

Scales that peppered his exposed arms, torso, and legs glittered in Thalassa's high, midmorning sun. Seagulls brayed as they wheeled in long fingers of sunlight that pierced through the cloud cover as they sculled through the azure sky. Dan Heng was lulled by the pounding of the sea on the surf, the shoals extending long enough that the shallows made for ideal places for families to play in the surf without worry of being strafed by the whitecaps further out. Seated atop a towel, a warm breeze ruffled through his jet black hair, contemplating the ocean he planned on delving into later that day. Clad in swim trunks, his attention was divided between people-watching the activity on the beach and waiting for the person he had arrived with, waiting to finally enter the water with her.

It was difficult to concentrate on the scintillating horizon the moment when Chenhua stepped from their rented bungalow, utterly entranced by her. No one needed to tell him that the Foxian was a beautiful woman when it was as plain as day, even when she was bedraggled from long days in the Artisanship Commission, covered in grime, and in the conservative uniform she and the other forgers donned. But, in the sunlight, after a full night of rest (or, as restful when it could be when it came to their nocturnal escapades), he couldn't help but linger his gaze as it raked over her curves. Dan Heng couldn't help the smile as he rose from the towel and strode towards her, taking her by the small of her back and angling his head to kiss her quickly but sweetly.

"So... I have to ask: are you here with anyone? It's just... you're very beautiful, and I'd like to get to know you, Miss...?" he flirted teasingly, chuckling as she giggled at his ridiculousness.

Maybe she could forgive him. She was more beautiful each and every time he saw her, of course.
