The greatest thing in Final Fantasy XIII-2 is that this guy-

He knew that she was out there, and even still, when he couldn't time travel or go anywhere because of his work, he was still looking for her, even when he was working on his project of a new Cocoon.
Hope says to Serah: "If it was possible to journey through time and look into the future.....then it must also be possible to travel backwards and change the past. I wanted to change history, make things better. Not just bring Lightning back. But Vanille, and Fang..and my mother."

You guys do not know how much I adore these two. And, even though they cannot be seen as 'canon' in the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, the relationship that these two have are absolutely precious.
Lightning:"I'll protect you."
Hope: "Lightning. I—me too. I mean, at least I'll try. I'll try to watch out for you, too."
AND THEN IN LIGHTNING RETURNS: "He still trusts and cares about Lightning, supporting her at all times and promising to be on her side no matter what decisions she makes."
