honestly the synapse that gave me the vision (heh) of the pairing was a split second revelation (lmao) of a sitcom esque montage of ghost cassandra and orestes doing shenanigans TM but now that i think of it:

timelines and myth versions are free real estate lol but lets go with orestes gets back from a grand time with pylades at his uncles (strophius) place to attend his fathers welcome home feast <- yes this is so i can write (a girl can dream okay) abt anaxibia till my hearts content. anyway

orestes bless him is a little slow to pick up on the tension, electra and clytemnestra are staring daggers at their victims to be. agamemnon midly entertains his wife and daughters jabs and jokes etc. cass is so done with everyones shit lol

anyway the night of the feast is the fatal night and after the murders electra begs orestes to leave until its safe for him to return

he does but not without an argument and general sibling feels (theres angst here too bc they never had the chance to be particularly close?)

hes on the ship and hes miserable on the deck bathed in moonlight and he hears muttering? cursing even. good lord not even the sailors would say THAT

lo and behold its a cassandra! he recognises her having only 'known' her for the duration of the feast but he knows her nonetheless

hes like wtf u cant be here. she mouths off as she should. shes had enough of not being listened to amirite

(also i just figured her being a sort of priestess of apollo works nicely with iphigenia as artemis' priestess. hehehehehehhehe)

they exchange traumatic events i think to pass the time and when the ship is finally docked hes like welp im sorry that really sucked but hey ur free now and i wish u well

to which he gets cursed to hades and back lmao bc orestes 'inherited' her after agamemnon died (work with me here) so shes now like bound to him? idk apollo is fucking with her beyond the grave ig lol

shenanigans and hijinks ensue as lore unfolds and a friendship blooms. orestes doesnt go to his uncles bc he doesnt want to risk his mothers tyranny affecting their allies (classic noble self exile bs) so he just backpacks across hellas for a year or whenever he gets the greenlight to go home and kill his mama

cass is pissed but excited at apollos entrance, maybe shell be set free? Shed miss her kinda but also not really step son's company but it was high time she was reunited with her own

The murder happnes with some hilarious commentary by ghost cass in the corner. very unserious duo

orestes gets chased by the furies and the only thing keeping him sane is the intervals the girls take to exchange news and stuff ig from the underworld. The comedic potential is unmatched. anyhows

tis the judgement of orestes in athens at long last. bro is ready for the curse to be lifted *insert cass snark*

one would think this grand display of forgiveness would extend to cass seeing all that shes suffered till now its very anticlimactic so to speak?

like orestes kinda assumed tbat shed be gone back to her family after the swell of music dies down yk but nope shes still there

i havent had the chance to read the iphigenia plays yet sadly, so this is probably inaccurate as hell lol, but the vision for the ending is that orestes wakes up and finds/ walks up to iphigenia (who he doesnt recognise just yet) and they talk a little and after the reveal and the feels he notices what, or rather who, is missing

something about siblings and their rivalries and reconciliations iphigenia mentions off handedly with a knowing smirk. considering cass leaving him a letter or a message via iphigenia but idk lol

its left vague but iphigenia vouches/ brokers cassandras release while orestes is asleep

maybe he retroactively retrospectively realises whatever feelings hes harboured for her. theyve kinda been there for each other at their lowest yk?

unexpected twist cass reciprocates the feels in her last note lmao!!! which is the funniest possible ending to just realise not only u had a crush but that it was MUTUAL and shes licherally gone forever. thats rough buddy XD

regardless hes had his closure and is happy for her to be back with her loved ones so its not all bad
