I assume this is about the "what the schnitzel" being a core part of my vocabulary?
Well I saw this movie Hoodwinked as a kid (aged 12) and it became its own core memory. I was watching in during my family trip to Spain. I think I was watching it together w my brother. Then, this scene came up:
And for whatever reason, this was THE funniest thing my 12 y o self had EVER heard. I was crying laughing I was on the floor (literally, but I remember distinctly we were sitting on the carpet because the TV was too low). And me and my brother had this whole meta language made up of various cartoon and real life references.
And here I was, not a child anymore but not yet and edgy teen. When everybody else my age was swearing like a sailor, I found The code word for wtf to use around my then 8 y o brother: what the schnitzel, so as to quote the contemporary poet and philosopher Schintzel Truck Man from the B movie Hoodwinked, "what the schnitzel" is the purest expression of confusion and shock you can ever make in the English language. And yes I do say it as in English, teen slang even in Romanian contains plenty of English vocabulary.
I thought it would be just a cringe preteen phase. Nope. This baby has a whole synapse in the language processing cortex dedicated to it. And this synapse has been rapid-firing for almost 10 years now.
i was the most excited for you to come.
