Allowing firearms for my little one-shot just ‘cuz. I doubt they’ll be able to make a whole lot of use out of them, but I still have to time to brew a few things.

Huehuehuehuehuehuehue
I made my head canon that, in the long term, Percival de Rolo is not remembered for inventing weapons, but is actually remembered as being the inventor of reusable, stable, and city-scalable non-arcane powered energy storage, real "canon" in my servers game for 100s of people. (Lead–acid batteries ... he invented lead–acid batteries.) It has been one of the funniest DM choices I've made, and I have zero regrets.
My D&D server has been running our own league set 1000+ years after the Campaigns in Exandria for a while now. It's a D20 Modern-ish, Cold War inspired setting, based mostly in 1962 PD Wildemount. About 2 1/2 years ago when the various adventures were being mapped out I saw there were 3 or 4 modules that had options that included traveling to Whitestone. So I immediately called dibbs on any tasks involving the city and made it my baby.
Anyways there is a massive uptick in players for this entire series of adventures because it's getting soft-retired at the end of the year. A lot of folks are talking about it on the server once they've completed it ... and somehow with all of lore and world expanding I did, Percy not being remembered for guns is the funny factoid Critters in the groups got a chuckle out of. Now, to be fair I did put in an extremely useful NPC ally you can gain in Whitestone by helping them win a pub quiz where the final question involves knowing Percy invented guns.
The players potential meta-knowledge was supposed to be the joke.

Yes, Vilaria is grabbing her arse…
Man I should start posting about my dnd character I don’t think anyone will give a shit but that’s never stopped me before lol
Our campaign is a time skip from the last one where this coastal city got blown up bad, so now it’s a few decades later and society is a little more advanced (think legend of korra) and has become a magic industrial hub
My boy Fennick is a beast hunter ranger and has a day job as a detective and a self enforced secret night job of keeping beasts and monsters at bay on the outskirts of the city (there’s an ongoing struggle for if humanoids or the wild would recolonize the city after the explosion)
He also has a daughter. Who is a mothman. Her name is Earth and shes in her rebellious teen stage right now
Fennick of course has a tragic past and honestly tragic present I can talk more about if anyone cares
star-crossed paths doomed to part ways
Almost committed TPK yesterday 🫡
