After Tony and Peter first get together, Tony notices some changes in Peter. Firstly, he almost never talks about school or his classes. Secondly, he doesn’t talk to Tony about what he and Ned do when they hang out and what sort of crazy Lego set they’ve challenged themselves to next. And lastly, his overexcited nature has been toned down so much that Tony starts to worry that he’s doing something wrong.
One day Tony asks him about it and Peter gets all embarrassed and doesn’t want to answer, but after some encouragement Peter finally reveals that he doesn’t want to do anything to remind Tony of how young he is. And Tony is heartbroken. The fact that Peter feels he needs to change himself for Tony to stay interested?? 😭😭
Tony reassures him that he fell in love with a highschooler and he knows who he fell in love with, and he wants to hear about Peter’s school day and his Lego adventures and all the silly things that excite him throughout the day like how he aced his science test or how his favourite video game is getting a sequel or that he did a triple backflip off a building today and landed with elegance and dignity and got a round of applause from bystanders. Tony wants Peter to be himself around him, and he assures Peter that he won’t suddenly remember Peter’s age and get turned off.
Because he loves Peter. He loves his nerdy, hyperactive, silly, brave, smart, kind, too-good-to-be-true boyfriend, and nothing will change that.
So Peter relaxes, smiles, and recounts the ups and downs of his schoolday to Tony for the first time in weeks and they both feel much better ❤️🥺
She didn’t answer him back. She was furious. He left her alone during the most terrifying times in the world, left her when he was the only light in her miserable godforsaken life, left her when she was ready to become his wife.
And then what? Long years of silence. A sudden short letter informing her that all of her torturers are dead, except for Dr. Grouper, and that he is in America. She didn’t answer him back, in a true femenine fashion hoping that he would understand her without the words.
She had desperately wanted to see him again. Despite this new silence, now her silence, she was still waiting for him to come, already used to this endless suspense. She didn’t answer, but she was waiting, waiting, waiting until she realised that no, he wouldn’t come. Maybe, he didn’t love her anymore. If he did, he would’ve been here already not wishing to suffer from the separation any longer. Maybe, he hated her. Yes, he probably hated her for all the things he endured at his dreadful quest for vengeance.
And now she was learning that no matter how angry she had been at him, his only sin was loving her. Too much. So much that now he couldn’t feel love at all, not anymore.
Elsa felt like if she had a chance at this very moment, she would turn Dr. Grouper into the freakiest of freaks by randomly and slowly cutting various parts of his body off, and then strangle him with her bare hands. She knew without a doubt that Massimo had the greatest most loving soul on Earth, and now he was claiming that he was soulless. The man who called her an angel while she thought of herself as nothing more than a revolting cripple, claimed that he had a wooden heart and no soul.
Elsa wanted to scream but could only cry without uttering a sound.
“I’m sorry, Jimmy”, Elsa whispered and rushed out after Massimo.
He could say whatever he wanted to, but now she knew that he was waiting all these years too. He just didn’t come uninvited as a true gentleman he was. Well, men rarely treated her like a lady. And there was this enormous barrier of pain and hurt lying between them.
“You came.”
“Of course.”
Maybe, he couldn’t be anybody's lover. However, he was still ready to be her friend. She didn’t expect that he would come so quickly (she wasn't sure that he would come at all), but apparently he went on his journey as soon as he had got her letter. Massimo was ready to help, as a carpenter and as a human, his embrace was still warm. There still were remnants of his grand soul somewhere, she knew it. A soul as special and generous as his couldn’t be murdered completely. Just like her dreams.
side note but I love how they handled the love triangle between Will x Angie x Derek. it would have been so easy to do the normal two men fighting over the woman they love. and we know Will and Derek pretty much hate each other’s guts. but the fact that Derek thought that Will was doing something nice for Angie and him ( and Graham ) and hugged him like?? and while Will didn’t return the hug, he accepted it and resigned himself not to confess his feelings??? that’s a huge step up for modern media.
