I think most gilmore girls fans would say that the core of the problem with ayitl is that it really doesn't make sense 10 years later — it is so clearly what ASP wanted to do (at least in part) in season 7.
We just don't get an explanation for 1) why Luke and Lorelai never got married 2) How Rory and Logan linked up again (and ended up with the Vegas arrangement) 3) Why Logan went back to the family business — and I'm sure I'm forgetting more.
But I think the thing that frustrates me the most is that there is so much potential. The Rory/Logan storyline was mess, but if we had some explanation it could have been a really powerful and emotional story (I may do a post on that because my rewatch really has me in my feels about my garbage children), I would have loved a little more with Jess and Luke, and the fact the Paris and Rory never discussed the Logan situation? Criminal.
There are some beautifullllll scenes in ayitl that I love (maybe another post?) but man, did ASP really just leave a lot on the table.
