“Why have I been given the queen’s cabin?” you asked, while he still stood there rigidly, taking up almost the whole of the secret doorway. “Also, why is there a separate cabin for the queen? Why the secret passage? Didn't the royal couple travel together?”
“They weren’t yet married when Skíðblaðnir was gifted to the Asgardian crown.” He then had the cheek to smirk in a way that could only be described as lecherous. “She was the Vanir emissary back then, and she had caught the eye of Odin Allfather. He used this vessel to travel all over Asgard and more, to attend important celebrations, to offer support during crises, to curb rebellions and spread Asgard’s influence. And she accompanied him on nearly all of these endeavours.”
I'm back! Back working on my Loki fic that I started in October last year, completed Novel November, and then haven't touched since. lol
Aside from needing a break, I got stuck on the plot in the last week - the outlined plot just wasn't going to cut it after writing that far. I tried thinking about ways to improve it, but couldn't get into it, so left it till after Christmas. And now it's April.
Anywho, I think I have a rough outline now that gets me from A-B in a more satisfying way, but I have yet to work through the details, so there's a chance it might get derailed again.
I'm taking a lesson from November and going to plan it out in more detail than I think I need, because I found that made it much easier to just sit down and write when I had some time. Working out the plot details at the same time as writing takes a fully loaded brain, which I do NOT have come evenings after work. I've only had to alter the plot as it relates to Loki, not the parts with Thor, so that's helpful.
So while I'm not yet technically writing words in the fic itself, I am writing words in the outline, and that counts. :D
I'm going to continue my sort-of-liveblog of this, because it helps me feel like I'm making some sort of progress. You can find the previous parts here: 6 5 4 3 2 1.
Mobius watched his pregnant husband chatting away with Casey at lunch in the cafeteria. He sipped his Josta while he smiled fondly at the man he loved more than anything else in the multiverse.
That is, until he realized what Loki was doing. At around the same time that Casey did.
He watched as Loki, quite casually, laid out two pieces of dark bread and began to line up rows of small fish on them. These fish were small, as previously noted, silver in color, still in possession of their scales as well as their heads and eyes.
At first, the main reason Mobius frowned about this was not out of disgust (Loki had had some pretty interesting pregnancy cravings before and Mobius tended not to bat an eye) but he was worried about the consumption of seafood while Loki was pregnant. He wished he'd been given a chance to research whether this was okay for pregnant Jotunns before Loki had chosen this as his lunch.
In fact, this was a sack lunch and he had no idea where Loki even got these little fish. He didn't think they had them in the fridge at home.
Casey looked pale and then green as Loki drizzled some mystery sauce in an unlabeled glass jar over the fish.
The sauce smelled absolutely foul.
The whole while, Loki kept chatting away with his story as if nothing were amiss.
Mobius raised an eyebrow, but still said nothing.
Finally, Loki plopped the second slice of bread on top of the fish to make a sandwich out of them, picked it up enthusiastically and brought it to his mouth.
About the time he was about to take a large and enthusiastic bite out of the sandwich, Casey put a hand over his mouth, dropped his own food back onto his tray and ran off for the nearest restroom.
Poor Casey had not even gotten to take a bite of his own food.
Loki grinned, put his strange sandwich down without having taken a bite of it, pushed it to the side and then brought Casey's lunch over in front of him and took an enthusiastic bite out of that.
Mobius sighed at the absolute love of his life's shenanigans. "Loki, if you wanted that why didn't you just go through the cafeteria line and get some?"
Loki happily chewed his food without answering. After all, it was impolite to speak with one's mouth full. Once he swallowed his bite of food and took a sip of his own drink, he grinned a wicked, mischievous grin.
"Now, my darling, where would the fun be in that?" Loki asked, extremely proud of himself.
Mobius sighed. "You never intended to eat that sandwich you were making, did you?"
Loki just grinned and took another bite of Casey's abandoned food.
"We're gonna have to have another talk about terrorizing the other employees before we get another call from HR," Mobius said, but leaned back in his chair again and took another sip of his Josta.
Loki pushed over the piece of pie that Casey had taken with his lunch and Mobius hummed, bringing it closer to himself and accepting the pilfered spoon from Casey's tray.
I've had a self-indulgent Loki fic in my head for the longest time. And I finally wrote the first chapter. But the more I read it the more I think it's horrible and boring. So I need a second opinion to tell me whether it's worth sharing. Or beta read it if it's possible. Since English is not my first language and honestly I'm not really good at writing in English. Anyone's interested?
The Avengers manage to piggy-back a portal and find Sanctuary, but what they discover there is not what they expect, and Thor knows there is no going back from it.
Word count: 1,193.
Warnings: Torture
“I hate this place.” Tony Stark’s voice rattled over the coms and into his companions ears. It was a sentiment they would have all shared, if this were not the tenth time he had voiced it.
Clint wise-cracked back. “Ah, really? I couldn’ tell, Stark.” and Tony huffed and cussed half-heartedly.
Sanctuary was a place of nightmares - an ethereal, unnatural plane of black rock, suspended in front of the lifeless, planetary remains of Titan. The Avengers would not have come here at all, except Thanos had played his hand, and through some stroke of luck they had managed to collect enough data readings from one of the portals Thanos’ lackeys had come through to find, what they had thought, was Thanos’ center of operations.
They had been there only a few moments - though somehow it felt like an hour, maybe two (a feeling they all, disturbingly, shared) - when it had become immediately apparent they were wrong. Thanos might have been here,
“It’s dark and creepy and ‘megalomaniac wants to purge all life from the universe’ enough.” Stark had quipped upon coming, in attempt to cover for the fact that this was the place; the same location from his nightmares where all of his friends met their deaths.
“Where has he gone?” Thor growled, walking heavy and angry. The atmosphere felt like it stuck in his lungs and held the vestiges of Thanos’ influence. He did not know why he was livid, though he owed it partly to the Titan’s absence, and partly to what he suspected went on in the chambers and buildings they had cleared out.
There were corpses left of what once would have been Thanos’ prisoners, and everyone one of them was feeling the horror of it settle in their guts.
They eventually made their way through the maze of smooth, obsidian paths marked with pillars of ebony, to what must have been the head of Sanctuary. It was the highest point, and from the brink at the tip one could gaze at tens of millions of stars, and contemplate the carnage of Titan, or look into the blackness of deep space. It might have been beautiful, if it were not for the circumstances... and for the knowledge of whose domain this had been.
Tony cursed when they came to it. It was undeniable proof that Sanctuary had been abandoned, and it meant this venture was a waste of precious time.
Steve Rogers murmured a quiet, “Steady.” to Stark, and suggested they, at least, fan out and look for anything that could indicate the Titan’s new whereabouts or give them something for their harrowing walk here.
Gleaming terminals, inset into the stone and practically invisible except the soft, blink of lights were found on one side of the cleared area. Stark commented on their advanced schematics - beyond what he had seen even on Asgard - and swore strongly when he read AI technology in its power grid.
Thor, however, was more interested in the screens that glimmered to life. He noticed, at once, that they were logs, and he tensed as a blue glow shown and scanned over him.
Thor, Odinson.
It read, it’s voice metallic yet smooth, and Thor grit his teeth.
It displayed other facts: Son of Odin. Wielder of Mjolnir. God of Thunder. Previously banished to Earth, but returned to godhood. Adopted brother of Thor.
He could not deny the accuracy of Thanos’ file, but it was the smaller post-script that tightened his insides and sent his heart pounding through his chest,
Information acquired from: Loki, Odinson/Laufeyson.
Thor shoved his finger toward the name, and his brother’s face flashed into view, along with similar information: Adopted Son of Odin. Biologically Son of Laufey. Jotun. God of Mischief. Called Silvertongue and magic-user.
Duration of stay: Little over a year, Aesir-time. 2-3 years, Sanctuary span.
Information acquired from subject: Tesseract. Location Earth....
Thor was awash with anger and confusion and a thousand emotions all demanding feeling. His friends, all occupied with other terminals or searches, had not yet noticed what he had found.
He calmed himself long enough to realize that there was Recorded Sessions attached to Loki’s file, and he selected it.
Dozens of numbered boxes appeared, and Thor felt his heart go into his throat. What... in the Nine?
His shaking finger brushed over a random session, and an audible, crisp feed filled the projected screen.
A blue-skinned, cybernetic woman straddled Loki, who was bound taut on an alter. His limbs were wrapped with slick, black cords, rendering him unable to move, and the female atop him hissed,
“I’ll give you one choice, dog: comply or else.”
Thor did not notice Steve come up behind him, or Stark turn and stare. Banner hovered back, listening, but thinking he would probably be ill if he watched too close. Romanoff and Barton both remained where they were, and watched in guarded silence from a distance.
Loki’s voice was barely above a thin, audible whisper, but he inhaled a labored, pained breath and spat a, “No; curse you...!”
The woman smiled, and it was then Thor noticed the blade in her hand - sharp, gleaming, - and the basin beside the alter, with rods dipped in a scalding liquid, and she thrust the blade into Loki’s chest, just beneath the first of his visible ribs. He gasped, and his expression contorted in pain, but he made no sound until she slide the knife around and pried at the bone. His breath caught and he made a guttural, wailing sound in his throat,
The woman growled, “Do not scream.” but continued her work until the undeniable sound of bone cracking under pressure crackled in the play-back.
Loki’s body seized and his lips parted, but he choked on a cry.
Nonetheless his torturer did not stop, and she worked her blade again around his rib, and Thor slammed a palm into the rock and let out a roar that seemed to echo through Sanctuary’s abandoned halls.
The woman broke another of Loki’s ribs, and this time his eyes leaked and he whined. She sneered at him, and leaned near his bruised face,
“I told you... no. sound. If you will not give me what my father wants, then you will say nothing.”
She lifted the white-hot, scalding rod out of the basin and when Loki sucked in a desperate, agonizing breath of fear, she applied it to his shoulder.
“No!” Thor shouted over Loki’s scream and smashed a fist through the thin, digital screen. It flickered and flashed a warning, but remained functional.
“Stark.” Thor turned on his friend, who had gone several shades paler, and green, if Thor took notice, “I want them all. Every bit of information. Every... recording. I want it.”
“...Thor.” Steve murmured, and the Thunderer heard the tension in his voice, “Don’t... don’t do that to yourself.”
It was not his friends who deserved his rage, but Thor rounded on Steve with blue eyes that held challenge and rage, “I must know. I... that. I... you saw. I have to know the truth.”
So, this is a new fic I am working on in between Dangerous Love, because I need something new. Don’t worry, I’m not neglecting it, just adding more to the load. xD Sorry, I get bored. If you like it, I’ll post Chapter 2 soon.
Chapter One:
If there was one thing Octavia had not planned on when she had arrived in New York earlier that day, it was to be alone and lost in a world she didn't know, and with a GOD who was claimed to be deadly, harsh and cold. The day had started out normal. She got off the plane with no problems and caught a cab to meet up with her cousin, Jane and her boyfriend, Thor; whom she had not yet met, but had heard enough about him to write a book. Jane had been excited to see her and Thor had been exactly as she had expected; overly cheerful and loud. Octavia forced a smile across her face when she spoke with him. It was still weird her cousin was dating a space alien, and he talked funny. They had met up at Stark tower and Thor had offered to introduce her to the rest of the Avengers. She accepted, graciously, excited to meet a room full of superheroes. They had all been polite, except for one in particular; Thor's brother, Loki. He had rolled his eyes and stormed off, making it well aware he was uninterested in meeting 'Jane Foster's child relative.' She may have been younger, but she was far from little. She had just turned twenty-three the following week, so she considered herself far from a 'child.' Octavia had decided immediately she couldn't stand Loki and wondered why he was even there to begin with.
Later that day, they had all gone out for a picnic in a nearby park and to Octavia's disgust Loki had joined them, though, he stayed off to himself and she found herself wondering once again why he even bothered. Not long after everyone had gotten settled, there was a loud crash. Octavia was off to the side with her earbuds in, listening to music, oblivious to the incoming danger heading straight for her. It was when she felt two strong arms grab her and pull her to the side that she became aware of the chaos around her. There were blasts of fire from all sides and she found herself being dragged around, barely missing their impact by inches. Octavia finally had the sense to look to see who her rescuer was, and to her surprise, it was the one person who she had least expected to come to her aid; Loki.
“What's happening!” Octavia cried, but Loki didn't answer. Honestly, she didn't blame him. It was hard to talk and dodge fireballs. They came to a nearby picnic table and he basically threw her underneath it, but he was also careful not to hurt her in the process, which surprised her even more.
“Stay down and do not move. No matter what you see, do not move!” Loki demanded, before running back to help the Avengers, and from what she was seeing, they had been caught horribly off guard.
Octavia could now see what they were dealing with from her hiding spot, but she had no idea what these creatures were, or where they had come from. Their hair was basically fire, and they stood to be larger than even Thor, by quite a lot, and their eyes glowed a deep fiery red to match their skin color. Loki and Thor were doing the majority of the work, while Iron Man awaited his suit, and Black Widow had taken Jane to safety. Hawkeye attempted to slow them down with his arrows, but after a few attempts, he retreated, realizing the creatures were completely unfazed by them; even the explosive arrows. Captain America had been holding his own for a while, but now, he was even getting his ass handed to him.
The battle seemed to last forever, but now that Iron Man had his suit Octavia realized the Avengers stood more of a chance. Though, they were all still clearly struggling. Maybe not Thor and Loki so much, but definitely the rest of them. One of the monsters looked right at Octavia and gave a fang-baring smile. It was clear it had found an easy target, and it was now heading straight for her. She knew Loki had told her to stay put, but surely this would be an exception? Octavia didn't give herself time to decide, as she quickly crawled out from under the table and began to run.
Loki glanced over and saw one of the fire giants chasing Jane's younger cousin. Why the hel didn't she stay put? Loki rolled his eyes and headed towards them running as fast as his legs would allow, for if he slowed down even for a second, there would be a chance he would not make it to her in time. He had been right, because the moment he took down the giant she had tripped and was now scrambling to get free of its clutches, screaming bloody murder. Shit. If frost giants could burn skin, could fire giants do so as well? Loki killed the creature easily and pulled the girl away from its grasp and just as he had feared, her leg was badly burned, and she had yet to stop screaming. Loki lifted her into his arms and ran to a more secluded area, placing her down gently on the grass. She had finally stopped screaming, but she was sobbing incoherently and complaining about how much her leg hurt.
“You must calm yourself.” Loki said in the most soothing voice he could manage, though, it didn't come out very soothing. He was highly stressed and irritated. “Your name, what is your name again?” he asked, in an attempt to get her mind on something else.
“Oc-Octavia.” she managed between sobs. “It hurts. It hurts so bad.”
“I know. Lie on your back, I can heal you.” She complied and Loki placed his hands on her injured leg, causing her to scream out in pain again. “I'm sorry, Octavia. This is going to hurt, but it won't last.” Loki cringed when she screamed again as he poured his healing magic into her. He knew it was painful, but hopefully not for too long. Loki let out a sigh of relief when she had finally stopped screaming, now replaced by heavy breaths, caused by the sensations of his seidr.
"Thank you." Loki could tell the girl was trying to be brave, but she was clearly terrified.
Loki nodded and pulled her to her feet. “I must get you somewhere saf-” he was cut off by a powerful blast, knocking him to the ground. It was when the wind started to blow wildly that Loki knew exactly what was happening.
He heard Octavia scream again and he quickly pulled himself up and grabbed her hand as she was being pulled into the air, right towards the open portal. Loki was on his feet now, but the force was pulling him with her; his feet dragged the ground as he tried to find any sort of grip, but it was useless. Loki managed to get a better hold on her and pulled her against his chest, he tried to turn to walk away from the pull of the vortex, but it was too strong. He had just felt his feet leave the ground when he heard Thor yell his name.
Octavia's eyes grew wide when she realized Loki was no longer in control of the situation. She barely had time to register the fact that they had been sucked into the black hole, as she watched it close abruptly behind them. She wanted to scream, but she couldn't bring herself too. Instead, she gripped onto Loki for dear life, thinking about everything she had not gotten to experience yet, and how she had just barely started living. She was sure they were both going to die; they were falling, and fast. Loki suddenly turned their bodies and he took the impact when they hit the ground. Octavia found herself uninjured and alive, but Loki didn't look so good. He was unconscious and his breathing was shallow. It was when she noticed he was bleeding from a head wound, that she began to panic.
“Loki! Loki, please! Wake up!” she begged, shaking him gently. Octavia didn't know a whole lot about head injuries, but she assumed hard shaking was a no, no. “Loki...” He didn't wake up. She didn't know what else to do, so she curled against him as close as she could get to make sure nothing could hurt him. She laughed at her ridiculous attempt to protect Loki. If anything did show up right now, they were both dead. When she finally got the courage to glance around, she realized that most of the ground was on fire, soot covered everything, and she was pretty sure she could even see lava. Octavia began to wonder if they had fallen straight into Hell.

In the morning, you woke up to find Loki wide awake and staring at you, a neutral expression on his face. You were both on your sides, facing each other, and his arm was holding you down in that position (as if he expected you to bolt).
Uh oh…
“Good morning?” Damn, why did you make it sound like a question.
He pursed his lips. “You’re a wily little creature, aren’t you?”

And even then, somehow, you were able to perceive the heavy judgement in your escorting guards’ body language. You were getting a lot of side-eyes from them, more so when you reached the door to your chambers.
