so let me get this straight now.

if someone I follow because they reblog great things now reblogs something I think is great, and I want the op to see that I thought their post was great, I now have to ignore the person I specifically followed for sharing those kinds of posts and go directly to the original post to reblog it. effectively severing the connection and community that was the whole point of having mutuals and following each other.

AND/OR I have to reblog it completely silently — assuming that every person in the reblog chain before me did the same — expressing no reaction to the post in even the tags, let alone a comment, so the op never knows what I thought or felt about their post because otherwise I will have created my own version of that post and denied them from seeing any further feedback or engagement. effectively severing the connection and community that was the whole point of being able to share things and have discussions.

Hearing Netanyahu justify his attack on Iran by saying "Now just imagine 10,000 tonnes of TNT landing on a country the size of New Jersey. This is an intolerable threat." made me see red.

This is the man that had dropped 85,000 tonnes of explosives on Gaza by November 2024—and god knows what that number is now. The blatant hypocrisy is expected but it's still so absolutely insane to hear with your own ears.

rant time I just need to get off my chest but last week I foolishly let myself get roped into a transphobic argument with my dad and stepmum over the phone when he asked if I was going to watch the new hp show and I took a calculated risk (but man am I bad at maths) and tried to start explaining what jk had done with the uk supreme court, and that she had a long track record of harassing trans people and cis women, and positions herself as a champion of women and girls but has been openly friendly with known abusive men, only to be immediately smacked in the face with the reason I've been actively avoiding these kinds of conversations with them for years now

despite them literally saying they weren't aware of what she'd done and asking me to explain, every time I got like ten words in I would be interrupted with another sharp question or counterargument about how actually ☝️ jk was actually working to have trans women removed from women's prisons and this was a good thing because they were assaulting the other female prisoners and impregnating them, and actually ☝️ the olympics committee has just released a policy banning trans women because all the science and studies show that they all have an unfair physical advantage over the regular female athletes, and actually ☝️ trans women shouldn't be allowed in women's bathrooms and change rooms and shelters because any man could dress up or claim he was a woman just so he could go in and assault the women in there or god forbid just make them uncomfortable

and at one point I used the word "cis" and my stepmum got so aggressive and defensive so fast that it was actually concerning. like she literally said she found the word cis deeply offensive and that it was an attack on her as a woman and somehow denied her womanhood and femininity and I was like. my good bitch, straight up how

I ended up just having to cut them off and say that the conversation was going nowhere and never would if they were just going to talk over me and interrupt me every ten seconds while I was still trying to answer their original question and that I would email them some links instead — because in their eyes to not be able to do that would be conceeding that they had won

and so instead of *some* links I've spent the majority of the last week writing what ended up being essentially a 4500 word essay with links to over 40 studies and articles on why everything they claimed about trans people (women) was bioessentialist bullshit and also how their attack dog style of "discussion" is not only unfair but deeply unpleasant and exhausting to deal with and always has been, and if they want to maintain a positive relationship this shit has to stop. I know I've almost certainly wasted my time and this won't change anything other than piss them off, but at least I got it off my chest and I can go to sleep knowing I tried. now it's time for my mum and sister to read it over before I send it to make sure I didn't go so hard I'm going to get cut out of the will ✌️😘✌️
