Tamagotchi Featured on My5’s ‘Britain’s Favourite Toys’ Series

My5, a video on demand brand offered by Channel 5 in the United Kingdom has recently released their newest series that focuses around Britain’s favorite toys, and would you believe Tamagotchi was the number one featured toy of the 90’s? Toward the later half of the third episode, around forty minutes you see that Tamagotchi is actually the number of toy of the 90’s out of fifteen, and we couldn’t agree more!

The segments reviews how big of an impact the Tamagotchi, and how the positively the market responses. It showcases how big the global obsession was, and how scared we were for them to die! We really enjoyed that the segment also featured Nic Alridge, the Managing Director of Bandai UK since 2018.

The segment also covers how it taught children about death, and how there were even Tamagotchi cemeteries! Some even feared that children would eventually need grief counseling from the death of their beloved Tamagotchi. However the grief was quick, you could hatch yet another egg in a few minutes and start the whole process again. Be sure to watch the episode here which will be queued up for the Tamagotchi segment.

#SMFicRecFriday - 4.3.20 Edition: My5

Happy Friday y’all  - we kind of made it through yet another week! Cheers to that! Let’s celebrate the little victories as we can. 

So for this week’s funday Friday, as it seems we’re still some uncharted waters around this neck of the interwebs, I changed it up a bit yet again. Here’s a virtual high five that I’m calling My5. 

I’m giving some love to 5 writers/fics and I want to get this circling through folks so I’m gonna ask 5 others to do the same, and let’s get this moving through.

@harryandmolly - so Molly is the first blog I found exploring this place. Her works are the first I ever read and one of the very first Shawn blogs I followed. Her writing is just sheer perfection. I read Like The Back of My Hand straight off, then literally went through and devoured her entire masterlist in like 2 or 3 days. I adore Complicit of course, but do have a special place in my heart for Lydia in When The World Stops Turning with @achinglyshawn.

@smallerinfinities - I found Alex because of Molly. Think she was number two on the follow and binge reading list over the summer. First thing I read was Woodshed, holy hannah oh my sheesh. Then I fell down the rabbit hole of her masterlist which is just a plethora of goodies from sweet to steamy. She’s also an awesome human who I have come to adore and respect a great deal.

@evansweaters - I could roll around all day in Sami’s talent. Full stop. Sunkissed is one of those pieces where you feel like you’re there, and let’s be honest we want to be. Crescendo is another stunner.  Her balance of detail and care with the level of hotness is goals. Masterlist is worth a perusal. She was gracious to chat for last week’s funtivites as well. 

@heywritersblock - I have waxed poetic about their writing before, and I’ll do it again. Perfect is one of my most favorite fics, I have it saved everywhere, if I need that dose of something, I know I can get to it and go to it and feel. Her other Shawn work (it’s a two parter) is also a wonderful piece of work.

@illumecherry - this girl has a GIFT for striking the most stunningly captured visuals with words. I am, as I constantly tell her, forever upset I missed her first foray of words. However, I am beyond grateful for what I’ve been able to feel with her latest offerings. I know she’s taking a break, which I can absolutely respect, but I would be remiss to not share my love of her writing, her works and her talent here. 

I had initially wanted to include this one fic about Shawn in the studio trying to get through a block in recording and the producer (a new girl he started working with, she’s in a yellow dress damnit!) comes into the studio and naughty ensues - but can’t find the bookmark, can’t find the author. If y’all wanna help me here, bonus funday Friday fun.
