Solo 18km ski in the slot car tracks at Ganaraska Trails were groomed this week which made them so much faster and smoother than last week. Snow was a mix of sticky and icy .. every downhill was a surprise of I was going to push down or fly down 🤣🤣🤣 Never a dull moment with my adventures. Unfortunately I picked up a nasty blister on my thumb .. guess the pole strap was in the wrong place for too long. Who thought that all that snow would be a curse? Trails weren't groomed and had an icy crust on top. The snow was really wet and sticky .. turned my skis into mouse glue boards. Added to that was a snowmobile chewing up the trails. Absolutely magical ✨️ day at Ganaraska CA... fresh powder with perfectly groomed trails. It was cold (-12°) but not too windy. Didn't really feel the cold until we stopped for a quick rest. @rwashbr and I set some speed records today! Falling snow made the forest seem enchanted .. Beautiful winter day for a 15km ski at Ganaraska with @rwashbr. Some melt and icy spots, a few branches blown down, ice falling from the trees but overall pretty good conditions. Nice track set trails ... felt like I was a slot car on rails zipping through the woods. And we're back to winter wonderland! These may have been some of the absolute best xc skiing conditions we've ever had ... it was beautiful in the forest. At least at the start ... Lots of other skiers. We had or made perfect ski tracks ... until a large group of hikers COMPLETELY destroyed all the ski tracks. Their ears should be ringing from all the people swearing at them 🤬🤬🤬🤬 The lack of respect and consideration from people associated with one of the local trail groups is mind-boggling. @rwashbr and I got out to Walker Woods for an excellent 15km XC Ski today. It started off cold and slightly windy. Then it warmed up and the snow got sticky … then we got hit with a blinding blizzard 🌨 then the winds picked up to Gale force. Crazy weather day! First ride on my new carbon rims from Eclypse @hlc.bike. After 18,000km, my old rims were toast 🤣🤣🤣 My @fulcrum_wheels hubs are still fast as ever .. but with 425g lighter rims and @conti_road GP5000TL tubeless tires, my bike is noticeably quicker and climbs faster. Just waiting on rim tape to go full tubeless. New carbon-specific brake pads from @swissstop grip like crazy and have a nice feel.
