Hearing from Ann Voskamp IN PERSON was definitely a highlight for me from this weekend. She talked about a lot of what she writes about in her book, but it was refreshing to be reminded to make daily gift lists from ordinary things - all to unlock the JOY of The Lord (which then means His STRENGTH). I realized that while I make my "gift lists," I often do them as catch-ups or over the course of a few weeks, rather than "yielding my pen (or keyboard ☺) like a sword" and "fighting for joy" in the everyday routine. "Joy is a function of giving thanks." I will fail a lot, but I'm inspired to step up my game a bit in the thankfulness department - starting now, in a simple 5 gifts a day. 1. Uncle Aaron and Uncle David, and the messy way they watch my kids 2. Jalapeños out of a giant can, dumped onto my $6 nachos 3. Laughter that makes my tummy hurt 4. "Raw" conversations with friends (about child birth, church, and finding where God wants us to serve) 5. Microwaved spaghetti with my three loves for dinner
