🎬It’s a wrap! Today the bear and I painted his 76 years on this earth in bright colours. It ‘only’ took us 4 hours!!! Hopefully we managed to paint a portrait of David Jack’s kaleidoscopic life, spanning 7 decades. It came out as a delicate flower made of love, creative sparks, and kinship extended to people at large, things, and the natural world. All this nourished by a combination of lighthearted fun (including a pinch of dark humour), wit, and gregarious nature towards all who crossed his path, fellow humans and non-humans equally. It is not an obituary, it’s a celebration of all that is good in life. Harry, our very patient filmmaker, is off now to work his magic, pulling together all the threads to give birth to DJ’s life film! A big thanks to all those who have taken the time to send us their memories of David! Preparation for DJ Life’s Film | 🎬take 2: We extended the category of beings who left a mark in DJ’s life to plants and animals when we realised that bees and orchids in particular kept on cropping up! Being kind to the environment and all the beings inhabiting it is a recurrent theme. That got us thinking 🤔 After all that’s how David and I first met, 14 years ago! Surely that should appear in his film somehow. Therefore we also decided to explore DJ’s timeline through big recurring themes. Pretty happy with that skeleton for now. Next we’ll be transferring all the memory seeds to the storyboard and allocating the visuals (photos/videos/drawings) and sounds to each of the 7 chapters. We’ve asked friends and families for help with pictures and stories as some chapters are a bit shorter on visuals than others right now. We got a good response so far. Crossing fingers we’ll piece together a kaleidoscope David will be able to look at and be transported to the many happy places he visited across time and space. The fact that David is still in his own way able and willing to engage in the process of creating a vivid version of the full life he had so far is making it all worthwhile. This Thursday we've signed-up with @mylifefilms , a fantastic organisation we came across thanks to synchronicity and a lovely lady we met at the @alzheimerssoc Coffee club. Over the next few months their awards winning team will help us pull together the memory seeds we’ve collected over the last few years and mesh them with DJ’s playlist we are currently building thanks to @playlistforlifeuk and Alexa (our new #ai friend) ! Hopefully creating a film to celebrate the ever colourful life of my bear aka @davidjackwickert or Queen of Siam depending on the weather. It’s great when things seem to fall effortlessly into place.
