Thanks for remembering

Initially we were told David's memories were fading because of the evil twins Al & Zheimer's. Four years later they were found not guilty but taking the blame for Lewy Body! This blog is still our way to fight back by collecting simple moments of wonder and connections with David, my gentle soul mate and husband.

Finished! Thanks @lorna.jewitt for the inspiring postcard and @zakfoster.quilts @amandanadigart for initiating and coordinating this online community quilt making thing! The Newness theme got us jumping into an old friend (patching fabric randomly that is) but from an entirely different angle. This said, one cannot escape their true nature so the bear came out to play under a wavy pinky blue sky and pixelated mountain. However this time a shadowy bearess made her appearance... How do you translate hope in Portuguese? Just ask Joana (44) @joanacabraloliveira ~ Catarina (9) ~ Eduardo (7), and Carlos (46) a lovely family from Lisbon in Portugal 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 . They’ll just show you that all it takes is a big open heart, a little jump in the unknown, and lots of carefully chosen colours. I received something special today🫀 This is a composite version of me as seen by four artists commissioned by @we_are_sweet_art as part of an Online Portraiture Project to celebrate IWD 2021. I booked a 15 minutes slot on 13 March to sit for this portrait virtually. The 4 artists who created this intersectional portrait of me are: @jessicamitchellfrombrooklyn @danialatar @coat.myself.in.paint @charnerart Thanks to all of them! I enjoyed the process. From writing and crafting my note about how I wanted to be seen and heard, and sharing these strange 15 min with compassionate strangers except for one ☝️ ~ Jessica~ together with @davidjackwickert . He played his steel tongue at the beginning of the process which added a lovely soothing element. David tends to be the main subject of my gaze. Being on the other side of the lens gave me the opportunity to reflect on that position. And how much can be not only revealed but also distorted, and blurred from my own very organically felt reality in that process. Nothing better than receiving a new tile to start the day! This time it came all the way from Germany where little Martha and mum Claire live. D’s reactions in videos 🎬😉👉🏾 Claire is a very special soul. I found her work in the area of feminist anthropology and sustainability online over 8 years ago I think. Around the time I was looking for other like-minded birds to roost around the ideas of enabling others to create sustainable communities by nurturing their *minds et motion* 🌱 Lots have happened since but our long distance friendship has sustained all the changes. It’s the kind of friendship built on a deep intuition the other gets you without needing many words. You just admire each other for who they are from a far and hope one day you’ll get to catch up in person around a cup of tea!
