A heartbeat, in the stillness of the river. At the bottom lay a man, hands wrapped around a rusted chain, one arm wrapped around it anchoring him against the current. Clint opened his eyes, the salt water making things a bit blurry for a moment, before his eyes adjusted to the dark. There, above him. A mid-sized schooner, on her way out. And bearing the stink of tainted meds. Good. Releasing the chain, he drifted along with the current, staying in the boat’s shadow. He would need to come up for air in a half hour of so, but so long as he was patient, he would be fine. There was still several miles of river to go, before they got to the ocean. He could easily cripple the hydrofoils before they ever made it to open water.

Clint grinned, the Charles river bringing the Captain’s SHIELD safely to harbor of Boston seascape. Ears pricked forward, he called out orders to the crew, hauling in sail alongside Tool and Grace, the Science babies muttering with Phil behind them. They’d been chartered by a local company, Perkin’s shipping, to move some cargo in a few days time, and were stopping to refuel, before hopping up to the Maine coast.

It had been far, far too long since he’d been in the ocean. Slipping into the tidal river, he grinned, diving deep for a moment, relishing the feeling of sand against his belly. Less than a half mile to the sea. Kicking hard, he surfaced, shaking water from his hair, letting the current pull him slightly before he made his way to shore. “She’s here, Sir. Just off-shore. I know the sound of our outboards. We’re home.”

Oh yes. completely. I don’t know if what’s on television is true, but often more experienced cops are paired with newbies, so they can be both.
